Book Title: Dinosaur Lady: The Daring Discoveries of Mary Anning, the First
Paleontologist
Students will be asked to write down the words they just learned today
Students will be making a timeline of paleontology discoveries from the 1890 – present.
Minimum of 5 dates and discoveries.
Students will use the computers in group to search for research and are encouraged
to use new words they found in the text book or new words they discovered during
their search.
Print out photos and take notes to put together into a timeline.
Teacher will have the book available for students to look at and the timeline in the
back of the book will be used to demonstrate what a timeline may look like.
Encourage creativity and creative freedom. Circle around group to group to make
sure everyone has a chance to use computer in the group and that everyone is
contributing.
I would really like to also bring children to Natural History Museum for further insight into
dinosaurs and fossils.
5. Closure: (2 points)
Through this book paleontology is discussed. Mary discovers great things, but these
examples are only few of thousands of discoveries that have been made. Students will
get a chance to use technology to expand their knowledge of other discoveries that
have been made, build their vocabulary, and build teamwork skills.
