Question:
How is the theme of prejudice conveyed in this story? In your opinion, why is prejudice
a bad practice in the classroom?
Explain your response in about 200 words. You may refer to the story, Pineapple for
specific details and examples.

Begin your response here:

In my opinion, the prejudice is a bad practice in the classroom because it will ruin our
reputation as a school student. Teachers will give a negative perception about us like we are
the problematic student in school. For example, Encik Mansor accused Melvin for kicking
the pineapple and resulting the stem breaking off. There is a most probably that he will tell
other teachers that Melvin is a bad student and they will give a negative perception and
assumption to him. The other students also will talk bad about him. This will give a bad
implication to him as a school student.

Besides, prejudice is a bad practice in the classroom because it will make us lack of confident
and will be a victim of bullying at school. For example, Melvin was so scared to speak up for
himself to Encik Mansor because Encik Mansor took his identification tag and saying he will
report Melvin to the guard. That situation will make him trauma and it will definitely stress
him out until feel like not wanting to go to school anymore.

The conclusion, prejudice is so bad that it will give the negative feelings which in society.
When people hold prejudicial attitudes, they tend to see everyone in the group as all the same
and not seeing the different colours in the person.
