INTRODUCTION
This program aimed to enhance the level of confidence among the pupils in using
English language. At the same time this program will create networking opportunity
between SK Penghulu Ahmad in Langkawi with other school internationally.

OBJECTIVES
1. To provide the pupils with the opportunity to use English language in a social and
meaningful context.
2. To expose the pupils to international culture.
3. To increase pupils’ motivation for language learning.
4. To increase recognition of relevance of modern languages in other subject areas
of the curriculum; geography, history, music, art, science etc.
DETAILS OF THE PROJECT

Duration Throughout the year

Medium of writing Postcards

Aim Each pupil will at least write and receives postcards 3 times
throughout the whole year.

Target group Year 4 pupils

Procedures Stage 1:
1. The school will receive an invitation letter (paperwork) from
the host.
2. The participatory school will need to find a class of pupils
with the same age as the matching host.
3. The participatory school will send a name list of the chosen
pupils together with the teacher’s in charge details (name
and email) to nkanordin@yes.my
4. The host teacher will match their pupils with the matched
participatory school.

Stage 2:
1. The host will start the postcard writing and send it to the
participatory school.
5. The exchanges will continue on for at least 3 times
throughout the year.
6. In collaboration with the teachers in both countries can
decide on the range of topics that they can cover over the
academic session, and the optimum time for
sending/receiving the correspondence items.

Stage 3:
1. The teachers in charge will discuss for opportunity to have a
video conference with the pupils involved.

Stage 4 (Extension activities): [optional]


1. Pupils can create a presentation about some surprising
facts learnt during the exchange.
2. Pupils can create a bilingual magazine or newspaper with
the exchange partners.
3. Pupils can create a travel guide to your local area for
exchange partners.

The rules 1. The writing must be done using postcards.


2. The pupils are reminded not to attach anything else other
than the postcards. (no souvenirs, money, family pictures)
3. The pupils need to write the postcard in English, with or
without guidance from the teachers/parents.
4. Teachers may check the writing before sending the
postcards to avoid any use of vulgar words or any
inappropriate content.
5. Teachers are to collect ALL of the postcards and send in
bulk, NOT as separate items.
