citizen.

1 Digital Etiquette I participate in Digital Etiquette by being

mind full of the comments that I leave for my
peers in class discussions. I am careful of
the language that I use and I make sure that
what I share as far as attachments is also
not something degrading or hurtful to those
around me in my classes as it is in the
course information document/syllabus that
we need to be respectful of each other. Is
also participate in Digital Etiquette by not
taking credit for work that is not my own and
showing respect for others' class
contributions.

2 Digital Security and Privacy I participate in digital security and privacy by

taking the necessary precautions to prevent
my laptop from getting bugs or viruses. I
make sure to do this by downloading the
newest updates that help with security. I also
do this by getting off of sites that my laptop
will alert me of having viruses. It has alerted
me of viruses by making the page red and
having a pop-up tab that froze the page and I
left it immediately. I also make sure to not
use passwords that are easily guess-able
and I will make sure to change my password
now and again. I also participate in this by
not giving out personal information or
passwords, or by not saving important
passwords on my device.

3 Digital Health and Welfare I participate in Digital Health and Welfare by

controlling the amount of time I spend on
technology and by stopping to take breaks
and move around and get my blood flowing. I
will even stand at the table while I do
assignments just to avoid sitting too long. I
have walked around my house while doing
assignments at times just because I felt like I
was spending too much time sitting and I
make sure to take breaks in between
assignments and to try and use my time
wisely so that I am not having to do all my
assignments at once by waiting until last
minute to care to do anything. I also make
sure that I am not in an environment on my
technology that is toxic. For example, when I
am on a media platform I am aware of how
to block or unfollow people. When I am in an
online class I make sure that I handle myself
in a way that will encourage good
conversation and others to treat me with the
same respect and kindness.

4 Digital Commerce I participate in Digital Commerce by being

careful of the sites that I give my information
to. I do not give my information to just any
site, by information I mean like my debit card
information. I look sites up on the Bbb
(Better Business Bureau) as I know that this
will help me see how trustworthy that the site
could be. I also try to make sure that I am
not leaving my information saved on my
devices. I am careful when I am buying
things to not go alone and to meet in public
places when I purchase something from
someone online. I also do not give out
information like where I live or send money
prior to pick up. When I am selling things, I
use places online that keep my personal
information personal. My phone number is
given if I agree and the same for my email.
My location is not shared. When I got into
college and wanted to buy my books online, I
was able to plug in my student I.D in order to
get my financial aid to pay for my books.
This meant that money wasn’t at risk of
being taken from my bank account and the
school made sure my information matched
that on the account to keep people who
didn’t have all the correct information from
getting access to my aid account.

5 Digital Access I participate in Digital Access in SO many

ways. For example, as a student, I use
things that I can have free access to, in order
to create word documents and slides. I also
help other students become aware of tools
that are free if they don’t already know.
When I competed at state and nationals for
“Educators rising” I used tools that people
could access free of charge. I have had to
use things like zoom that are free during this
pandemic. I do not currently have students
that I help with but when I did, I was aware
that not all of them had access to different
forms of technology at home so when the
school asked that parents did something like
fill out a form we directed them to where they
could get free access to do so at the school.
I also try to be aware when I see other
students struggling to do a task involving
technology that they may be having trouble
because of lack of access at home and I
have tried to take a little bit of extra time to
help them and not by doing it myself but by
helping them do different things so that they
could gain their own understanding and I
made sure to be more patient as even I have
struggled with technology due to lack of
access.
