Observation:
KB rolls the playdough and attempts to curl it into a circle. For this, she started by rolling it
between her hands into a ball, and then she used both hands applying light pressure to make a
“snake”.She does this with a look of concentration on her face. After that, she started bending
the play dough to make it form a circle.KB then picks up a blue straw, looks with a look of
confusion, and to what she is supposed to do with it since she's playing with play dough and
bends the top. She holds the top of the straw with her left hand and the bottom with her right as
she blows through the straw. She looks up with excitement.KB with her right hand uses an
orange ball to squish the play dough flat then she picks up the playdough with her left hand. KB
rolls the play dough between her hands and looks up to see her friend Sophia. KB quickly grabs
Mrs.Lexi’s attention by waving her right hand and points to her friend.KB then shows Mrs.Lexi
and Mrs.Molly how she signs her name. She signs good job at the same time Mrs.Molly does
and continues to play with her playdough.

Comments:
A little background on KB that is important to keep in mind.KB was born with a hearing
deficiency. Unlike some who are born this way and still have the slightest bit of hearing and can
find ways to regain it back, KB is completely deaf. KB’s parents however are not and are
learning slowly how to communicate with sign. KB signs at school and has an ASL translator
named Mrs.Molly. Mrs.Molly says that tho it appears that KB knows so much she is still now
exactly where she should be because of the circumstances.KB on occasion will attempt to
speak as she sees everyone else using their mouths but babbles come out. When KB does this
we are instructed to sign what and have her sign what she wants all on her own or ask
Mrs.Molly for help. Another thing to know is that during choice time there are no more than four
to a center. This is why Kendyl stayed in the art area because once she moves and another
student runs over she’s stuck going to whatever center the children leave open. And lastly, KB
loves to sign her name frequently and is able to quickly recognize it.KB’s name is signed by
using her first initial. KB is shown to sign her name for many things throughout her day.
