Learning At Home: 2 Weeks

Week 1: May 10th - 14th, 2021.
Week 2: May 17th - 21st, 2021.
Return Date: Tuesday May 25th, 2021.

Dear Grade 3 Families,

As you know, our school will be learning at home for 2 weeks. We would like to start by saying
that your family’s health and wellness are the most important things to focus on right now. If
your family needs some time to address any physical, emotional, or mental health concerns,
please make that the priority before setting up for home learning. We realize it takes time to
make child care arrangements, work arrangements, and many other important factors that
need to be considered. When you are ready, please find further information regarding our 2
weeks of home learning below.

Sample Schedule
We understand that learning at home needs to be flexible, as every family has their own
unique schedule, personal obligations, and various needs to attend to. With that being said,
there is a suggested sample schedule provided. It is not mandatory to follow this sample
schedule as each family will be in a unique situation during these 2 weeks of learning at
home. Grades K - 3 are focusing on Language Arts and Math outcomes during these 2
weeks. There will be some optional science choices provided if your child has extra time.

Daily Activity Checklist

A daily activity checklist has been provided to outline the daily tasks for each day. There is a
repetitive routine of learning tasks to help students and families create a predictable flow to
their days. All of the pages are in order in the class isolation books to make it easy to follow
as well.

Class Isolation Paper Package

We will be using our class isolation paper package that was sent home as our primary
learning resource. Please pull out this package and have it ready to go for Monday. There is
also an additional math booklet for our unit on measuring mass that has been sent home
and can be added to your class isolation paper package. These resources can be found in
a printable, digital format on our google classroom as well.
Google Classroom
To log in, please refer to your child’s google login card that was sent home earlier this year if
needed. Digital versions of home learning resources can be found here, as well as other
helpful links, supporting documents, and important information.

Google Video Meets

We will have the opportunity to meet online every day through our google classroom video
meets. Your child has been shown how to access a google video meet through their google
classroom account. Please refer to your child’s google login card that was sent home earlier
this year and the google meet instruction note provided if needed. During the meetings, we
will have the chance to connect, go over our daily learning plan, participate in lessons, listen
to instructions, ask questions, and other activities as a class. These meetings are strongly
encouraged but not mandatory, as we understand that some students may not have
access to technology.

Communication
I will be available through email, google classroom, or by phone during regular school office
hours to answer questions and provide any support you may need. My office hours are
outlined in the sample schedule provided. Please note that if you wish to connect by phone,
you will need to email me first so we can schedule a time to talk.

Enrichment
Students also have access to educational enrichment websites that they can use at any
time for additional learning opportunities. There are some extra choice ideas listed on the
last page of the daily checklist document. Please reference their login cards for any
username or password information that may be required.

Thank you in advance for your flexibility and support during our 2 weeks of learning at home!
Let’s show ourselves grace, patience, and make it a positive experience for the students! 😊

Take care,
