Anubis is the god of death, justice, the afterlife, mummification, the helpless, and cemeteries.

He
is typically depicted as a jackal headed man.

Anubis was originally a son of Ra, and later a child of Osiris and Nephthys, Bastet, or Set. He
was a faithful follower of Isis, and was adopted as her and Osiris's son.

He was frequently invoked by necromancers. The Greeks associated him with Hermes.

He embalmed Osiris after his death, allowing him to come back to life.

He frequently fought and defeated Set, in one instance castrating him.

Epithets include:
● Counter of Hearts
● Chief of the Necropolis
● Prince of the Court of Justice
● Master of Secrets
● The One Who Eats His Father
● The Dog Who Swallows Millions

After the rise of the cult of Isis and Osiris, Anubis's role as chief god of the dead was taken over
by Osiris. Anubis retained his spheres of influence, but held a much more minor role in
mythology.
