JOB SATISFACTION AND PAY

INTRODUCTION:
There is a correlation between job satisfaction and pay. Pay is an important factor that affects
the job satisfaction. Many studies show that pay has positive impact on job satisfaction but
some or few studies show that it has negative relation.

POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN JOB SATISFACTION AND PAY:


(According to Muhammad Qasim it al, July 2015) mentioned in their study that pay is one of
the factor that affects job satisfaction. From this study, it is clear that increasing in pay/salary
also increase job satisfaction (for the sample of the study 120 primary school’s teachers were
selected randomly from the population. Data collected through questionnaire. This quantitative
study was based on a descriptive survey through simple random sampling techniques, teachers
of public sector as a sample. (ABDUL KHALID, TUNE 2018) found that teacher’s salary and job
satisfaction have a positive relationship. In public sector, teachers have satisfied with their
salaries. That shows the positive impact of pay on job satisfaction.
An important aspect of any job is pay. According to the one group of researcher, when
individuals are asked why they work, money is one of the commonly cited reasons BY (JOHN. T
BRINKMAN, OCT 2017) Issue says, Money provide them the means for satisfying material
needs. It is understandable to assume that satisfaction with our jobs also increase as pay
increase.
“The notion that high pay leads to high level satisfaction” (JUDGE ET AL 2018) summarize
their research by stating that. According to their study, level of pay bears quiet modest,
relationship to job and pay satisfaction.

NEGATIVE RELATION BETWEEN JOB SATISFACTION AND PAY:


It’s a survey in Belgium around 78000 participants. In (2012, JOBAT AND VACATURE) carried
out this survey Job at questioned to 33000 participants (Belgian Employees) and Vacanture
survey in Belgian Employees. They selected highly paid sector and lower paid sector (both) for
survey, about half of the respondent were dissatisfied with their salaries after taking high
salaries, saying: “It was not in proportion to their workload).
