Modules Included:

During my first year of university I have improved on many of my skills. My main development this year
has been the ability to work with individuals of different ethnic background and nationalities. Hertfordshire
has a vast number of international students and working with international students has improved my
communication and people skills. One of my main assignments was to create a presentation as a group on
whether annual accounts are still useful after being produced 4-6 months after the financial year. I used
many methods of research. I used the library facilities, internet, my lecture notes and talking with other
students. This assignment broadened my research capabilities.

EXPERIENCE
2007-Present J SAINSBURY’S PLC

Counter Assistant
This includes the Delicatessens, Fresh Fish and Meat, and Food to Go (Hot food Counter)
Counters
 Working on all of these counters, I must have excellent customer service skills. In my last 2
observations I received 100% by the department manager and by an external manager who
has to report to head office with all the customer service results.

 Stock control is another task which I have to keep on top of, by making sure the system has
the correct inventory on it so that correct orders can be placed. This is done by checking all
stock which is going out of date within the next three days and put on the system so more
can be ordered in, this is called code checking.

 Financially I look at the profit and loss of the counters per week and see how we can reduce
the losses, either by reducing the amount of stock, and how we can increase profits, maybe
by changing the layout of the counter or more sampling. This also consists of trying to
reduce the amount of shrinkage (unknown loss).

year 7 students create permission slip for parents/guardians to sign and took the session
myself.
 We had to also present an evening congratulating all other volunteer work by other students
in the Enfield area, whilst receiving my reward for my contribution.

attention to detail.

OTHER SKILLS
 A confident user of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.
Can create databases, spreadsheets, websites, advertisements and Informational booklets
using Microsoft Office skills. Have created all of the above whilst studying ICT at A Level.

INTERESTS
I am a very keen sportsman who has played football at a semi-professional level for Cheshunt FC Under
18’s.I currently play on Sundays regularly for an amateur club. Playing in a team environment has
improved my team work and leadership skills. This also helps with my discipline and organisation. This is
because I have to maintain a healthy and have discipline training to enable me to enhance my sporting
performance.
Music is another love of mine. I DJ private parties and would love to one day DJ in a big club. Being a DJ
is a technical skill that is very hard to master. It is a challenge that I enjoy. This shows good confidence,
initiative and quick thinking. A request may be made and I would have to react adequately to incorporate
that request into the performance.
