How would you prepare yourself to become a teacher , using the 3 approaches to
curriculum?

Bautista, Joshua-Lyn B.

I aspire to make a difference in others’ lives through education. I’m

studying to be an elementary school teacher because I believe that children can
achieve so much more if they learn early of their potential. I would prepare myself
first through the first approach in curriculum which is the “content”. I would
create lessons that was based on factual information and would give a lot of
knowledge to my students. I will also use the guidelines in the selection of the
content in the curriculum. I would create a curriculum wherein my lessons could
help my students in their everyday lives and which are appropriate to their
abilities. While making my own curriculum I would take in mind the criteria in the
collection of content. I will make my lessons interesting for my students because
I believe that interest is one of the driving force for the students to learn better. I
will make sure that my content would help my students to develop their cognitive,
affective and psychomotor skills.

As a future educator I will develop lesson plans that is align to the

established academic standards and delivering instruction to my students. I will
develop hands-on activities and assignments that allow my students to practice
what they have learned and build mastery of skills. As a teacher I will incorporate
a variety of materials into my instruction, such as textbooks, supplemental
reading, videos, and online presentations. I also develop my assessments to
measure how well my students have learned the material so I can adjust my
instructional methods. As future educator I will not just impose only my ideas or
opinions in my class but also I will allow my students to participate actively by
allowing them to give their insights and opinions about our lessons. I believe that
as teacher you must learn different teaching methods because we all know that
our students learn differently. Skills in analytical reasoning and data management
help teachers develop effective student assessments and measure academic
growth. These skills also help teachers evaluate prior student performance and
identify specific skill gaps they must address before moving forward, that is why I
will do my best to attain this skills.
I want to teach others about the importance of education so they too can
prosper. Everything I’m learning at university is important for my future career
and, if I don’t study it, I’m failing my future students. Every child deserves the
best education available and I should strive to be the best educator possible to
provide that for them and I will incorporate the three approaches in curriculum in
my teaching journey.

Danica, Bance

A teacher is a person who helps people to learn. Teaching does not get
easier with more experience and technology, but teachers of all levels need a
little extra inspiration. "Teachers have three loves, love of learning, love of
learners and the love of bringing the first two loves together" by Scott Hayden.

In response to an increasingly complex society and rapidly changing

technology-based economy, schools are being asked to educate the most diverse
student body to higher academic standards. The three approaches to school
curriculum have a big impact on how you become a teacher. First approach is
content, it focuses on the body of knowledge to be transmitted to the students
using appropriate teaching methods. Content should contribute to the ideas,
concepts, principles, and generalization that should attain the overall purpose of
the curriculum. Teachers need to understand the subject matter deeply and
flexibly so that they can help students create useful related ideas to one another
and address misconceptions. Content approach becomes the means of
developing cognitive, psychomotor and affective of the learners. Next approach
is process, the process of teaching and learning process becomes the central
concern of teaching to emphasize critical thinking. Curriculum happens in the
classroom as a question as by teacher and learning activities engaged by the
students. Both learning and teaching are the two important processes in the
implementation of the curriculum. And lastly, the outcome or product. This
approach means orienting your organization to achieve outcomes, the results of
students activities. It is the formulation of behavioral objectives stated as
intended learning outcomes. These learned or achieved learning outcomes are
demonstrated by a person's experiences in the curriculum. This is the result of
planning, content and process in the curriculum.

Effective teachers strive to motivate and engage all their students in

learning rather than simply accepting that some students cannot be engaged and
are destined to do poorly. They believe every student is capable of achieving
success at school and they do all they can to find ways of making each student
successful.
