Section B

1) Status can explained as the amount of control and exercise of power one has towards an
individual or a group. For example a person with better English vocabulary is seen as higher
status which can be linked with superior and inferior complexes
Moreover a person a person who is professional in his field is also seen as higher status. This
is because we see the professional as a credible and reliable source,
However, status differences can cause bias among a high status person and a low status
person. For example, a young employee’s insights might not be taken seriously although his
work may be solid and just as good as the rest.

2) The first criteria is where rewards are equally distributed regardless of contribution to the
effort. For example, a lazy employee receives the same amount of bonus as an hard working
employee although he did much little work.
The second criteria is equity where the rewards are distributed according to their effort. For
example, a kid is rewarded with more candy for completing his homework on time
compared to the kid who did not entirely complete his homework.

3) Compliance is the behavioural conformity of target from threats and demands from the
source. For example, a person can obtain something by promising rewards for such
behaviours. An employer can promise his employees a monthly bonus if they spend more
time at work. This way he gets the compliance of his employees to work longer hours.
Moreover, compliance can also be attained through legitimate threats where a negative
outcome used. For example, parents might threaten to cane their child if they ran around
the house anymore. The negative outcome of getting beaten by their parents ensures the
child complies with the parents’ order.
4) Firstly, participants of a research should be briefed on the purpose, method, risks and
alternatives of the research. Then, the participants should be allowed to make the informed
voluntary decision whether to participate or not.
Moreover, individuals should be treated with great respect from the beginning until they
end even if they decide to opt out of the research. Researchers should always respect the
privacy of an individual and keep their information private and confidential. Under no
circumstances the details of the participants should be released to the public.
During a research, the uncertainty of risk is very high therefore researchers should always
commit to minimize the risk in a short term and long-term phase to ensure safety and
longevity of participants.

Section C

a) I somewhat agree and disagree to this statement because I have personally seen many
attractive people with average looking partners. Although it is true attractive people
prefer dating attractive people as it is more acceptable to society based on what is
portrayed on films. However, we can’t stereotype an entire group based on actions of
few

b) In some cases, attractive people on go for other attractive people. This may be because
their belief of social norm is different from the others. They view that dating another
attractive person they may receive rewards and feedback from the community like
compliments, admiration of the couple and many more. Moreover, self-reinforcement
theory plays a major role. People tend to believe that are not worthy of a relationship
with an attractive person. Because of how a certain individual’s belief is their perception
on dating a attractive person changes. This could also indicate the activation of attitude
of an individual. For example, an attitude is formed when an individual experience it
directly. Therefore, an individual who has been rejected by an more attractive person is
more likely to hold this belief that unattractive people end up with unattractive people.

c) I would advice my friend to not worry about my relationship as much. I will also inform
him to avoid speaking about my personal matters to his parents. Moreover, I will explain
to my friend that my partner is not what his parents think of. I will inform him of the
good qualities of my partner to persuade his parents. Moreover, I will also tell my friend
that he shall not worry of me being in a toxic relationship. I will let him know that if
needed I will gladly break up with my partner to prevent any hearts from being broken.
