CIS220 – Systems analysis and Design

Part 1: presentation:
The goal of the project: Provide Planning, Analysis and Design of the information systems
application.

What needs to be done: Provide solution to one of the problems described below. You will work in
Team of 3-4 students and deliver presentation and presentation material to the class. Each team will
select one theme to present. Your deliverable for this part is a PowerPoint presentation in front of the
class. We will discuss it in the class in a greater detail .

Subject line: CIS-220 Presentation team-Leader’s Name

Subject Body: List all team members and topic of your presentation. Please select at least 2 topics.

Grading breakdown:

A. 10 points - Project organization: Following submittal directions and presentation organization


B. 10 points –Group work. How well group worked together, conflicts, resolutions, etc…. That grade derived
from instructor’s observation
C. 60 points - Presentation content. How presentation relates to class discussions, how presented information
correlates to the course and project, knowledge of content
D. 10 points - Post presentation questions. How well student answer post presentation questions, knowledge
about class material and project.
E. 10 points- presentation skills. How well student articulates material to others, oral skills, etc…

Theme 1- Travel and leisure: Hotel Reservation System

The new hotel brand Jennifer’s Hotel chain is opening 55 hotels all over
the United States. Therefore Jennifer’s hotel is looking for help of
Systems Analyst to design hotel’s room booking and marketing
systems.

It is expected that they will have visitors not only from United States,
but from all over the world. Due to high value of euro they want to
market to European Union countries which mostly speak English,
Spanish, French and Greek. Also in addition to selling hotel
accommodation, the system must provide useful information and drive
sales of local entertainment facilities such as movie theaters, shows,

local tours, museums and other specialty stores. It is expected that all
hotel staff will be computer literate and be available for training. The
same system must be used at all chain’s locations.

Systems Analyst needs to deliver plan, analysis and basic design for
implementation.
WRITING ASSIGNMENTS:
Goals:
Success in your career will depend greatly on your written and communication skills. Our
school recognizes the need for students to develop proficiency in these skills, and requires all
students to submit a research paper in each class in this department.
Format:
 Length 2 – 5 pages, excluding illustrations and bibliography
 Margins 1.5” top, 1" left, right, and bottom
 Spacing double-spaced for normal text, single-spaced for long quotes
 Font Size 10 - 12 point
 Font Styles Times New Roman or Courier
 Illustrations welcome if of good quality
 Cover Sheet optional but suggested – should include topic, course ID/section, student
name, and date
 Binders NOT USED

Attribution:
All works and illustrations used in your paper must be cited; this means crediting the source
where you found the information you used to support your work. If you fail to give credit for
copyrighted information you present as your own work that constitutes plagiarism, and will be
penalized by a zero for the project.
Citing Sources:
 Works used – This is the source material you used to support your research project.
 Works consulted – You probably looked at many sources before you located usable
material, and you deserve credit for this research. Your work will be considered for credit for
works consulted; list your preliminary sources as consulted works.

ESSAY Outline for Option 1:

If you plan to write about development methodologies, please choose 3 methodologies from chapter 2
and write about them. Please write in complete sentences and logical paragraphs. You may quote from
internet but please indicate it in proper way. Also, Essay must be typed according to the style printed in
your class syllabus. Use APA style.

There are many ways to write a research paper. This essay is open-minded and doesn’t have to follow
rules outlined below.

How to submit your project presentation and essay:

Project Presentation

Please follow the following steps to submit your project presentations.

Hard Copy:

1. Please create project cover page; this page should have the First and Last Name of each
person in your group, Class Name and Code (CIS220 – Systems Analysis and Design),
Name of the project you present, Name of the instructor (Instructor: Maksim Kleban),
Date of the submission.
2. Print all of your slides before the presentation to the class, give it to the instructor.
3. Instructor should have a hard copy of your presentation while you present to the class.

Digital Copy:

1. Upload the digital copy to the course website.

Essay is due week 14

Hard Copy:

1. Please print your essay as directed in the assignment and give it as a hard copy to your
instructor.
