METHODOLOGY

Research Design

This study will use the descriptive research method which is the collection of data in

order to answer questions about the effects of emotions to the grade 11 STEM students of Bulan

National High School. It is descriptive in the sense that it involves observing and describing the

participant’s responses to certain questions. The descriptive method, in which a research designs

that, focuses at the present condition in order to find new truths.

Descriptive research was used in this study since the method is a fact finding procedure

with adequate analysis and interpretation. With the data gathered from the respondents through

the use of survey sheets, the effects of distance learning to the emotions of the students will be

analyzed.

The Sample

In selecting the participants of the study and in order for the population to be adequately

represented, the researchers used non-probability sampling technique. Specifically, the

researcher utilized purposive sampling in choosing the participants who will respond to the

survey sheets. The samples of this study will be taken from grade 11 STEM students of Bulan

National High School. The researcher chose the participants based on their strand and grade

level. The number of participants that will be included in this study is 20.
The Instrument

The instrument that will be utilized in this study is survey for it is the most appropriate

medium during this time of the pandemic. The survey sheets will be sent and answered online.

The survey consists of three parts. The first part is intended to identify the emotion(s) felt by the

students. The second part is to determine the reasons behind the identified emotions. The third or

last part aims to determine the effects of the identified emotions to the learning of students. The

questions in the survey are made to answer the research questions of this study. The results will

be interpreted using context analysis.

Intervention

Survey will be used in order to solve the problems of the study. This method will be used

because it is most appropriate during the pandemic. The survey sheet will be sent online by the

researcher and the participants will answer online as well.

Data Collection Procedure

The researcher will use survey as a tool in gathering data. Before conducting this study,

the participants were informed about the survey being conducted. Furthermore, before sending

the surveys through online, permission from the participants were secured by the researcher. The

researcher made sure that the study is well explained in the beginning of the survey. Instructions

were clearly stated and also translation to Tagalog is available for better understanding. The

researcher also made it clear in the survey that the participants’ responses will remain

confidential. After the participants answer the survey, the responses will be analyzed and

interpreted by the researcher.

Plan for Data Analysis

As qualitative research seldom deals with numbers and figures and almost uses words,

context analysis will be used by the researcher to analyze the responses given by the participants.

After gathering the data needed for the study the researcher will classify the responses. The

responses will be categorized according the participants’ answer based on the survey given to

them. Codes and themes will be used in analyzing. This will be the major data gathering tool in

answering the research questions. Tables will be used to classify responses. The data that will be

collected from this analysis will serve as an answer to the research questions.
