UTILIZING MICROSOFT EDGE BROWSER READ

ALOUD TOOL INSTRUCTIONS

The read aloud tool instructions will provide a few steps on how to activate voice playback of text being
displayed on the computer display, while using the Microsoft Edge browser. The instructions are easy to
follow and intended for an audience possessing practical skills utilizing Microsoft Edge browser within
Windows 10 operating system environment. The purpose of these instructions is to, broaden focus and
comprehension of embedded internet text material accessed by Microsoft Edge browser through Real
Aloud speech tool.

System Requirements
A laptop or a desktop computer (Figure 2) (Figure 3)
Windows 10 operating system installed on computer. (Figure 1)
A copy of Microsoft Edge browser application installed on the computer (Figure 4)

ACTIVATING THE BROWSER

Step 1. Start by double clicking the Microsoft Edge browser
logo displayed on the system home screen. (Figure 5)

Step 2. Once the browser window

appears click the three white dots icon
at top right of the browser to display
browser settings menu. (Figure 6)

Step 3(a). After the browser setting

menu appears locate and click the
READ ALOUD option displayed in the
browser setting menu. (Figure 7)

Step 3(b). A read aloud tool bar display occurs once clicking the READ ALOUD options tab
through the browser settings menu. (Figure 8)

READ ALOUD VOICE SETTINGS

Step 4(a). Locate and click the VOICE

OPTIONS tab on the read aloud tool bar to
access voice options menu. (Figure 9)

Step 4(b). Clicking VOICE OPTIONS tab

displays the voice speed control. Although, the
default voice speed is set to NORMAL by
toggling the white dot to SLOW or FAST
adjusting the voice speed to a desired setting.

Step 5(a). To change voice dialect simply start by clicking the box below CHOOSE A VOICE
caption displayed in the voice options menu. (Figure 11)

Step 5(b). Once CHOOSE A VOICE menu is

displayed hover over the desired voice option and click
once to register it. (Figure 12)

READ ALOUD VOICE PLAYBACK OPTIONS

Step 6 (a). After applying the desired voice speed

rate and choose a voice setting simply click on the
play icon in the read aloud tool bar to initiate
voice playback. (Figure 13)

Step 6 (b). Click the pause icon to stop

voice playback. (Figure 14)

Step 6 (c). Click the rewind icon to reverse voice playback or click the fast froward icon to skip
ahead. (figure 15)

EXITING THE READ ALOUD TOOL

Step 7. Once finished simply click the X icon on the read aloud tool bar next to the VOICE
OPTIONS tab to quit the tool. (Figure 16)

COMPLETION OF TASK
A successful execution of the instructions will provide a great scope of understanding and
physically implementing the Read Aloud tool in the Microsoft Edge Browser within the
Windows 10 operating system environment. May it be for the purpose of academic and pleasure
reading or research on the internet.

FUNTIONALITY AND CAUTIONARY NOTES

A laptop or desktop computer with Microsoft Windows 10 operation system installed.
Microsoft Edge Browser application must be installed on the computer.
Internet connection is required unless the web pages is saved in an offline format.
Use of proper vision aid is recommend for applicants with impaired vision, failure to do
so may generate unintended results.
