Title: THE DEMOGRAPHIC DISTRIBUTION OF FIRST YEAR SILLIMAN UNIVERSITY

COLLEGE STUDENTS ENROLLED DURING THE FIRST SEMSTER OF ACADEMIC YEAR 2020-

2021

Research Questions:

1. What are the demographic variations of first year college students enrolled within the

campus of Silliman University?

2. How diversified is the student body?

3. How does the diverse distribution of the students affect the university? How and what can

be done by the college admin in catering students’ needs and concerns?

Summary:

In Silliman University, specifically the first year, the college admin currently holds no record of the total

student demographic data for the academic year 2020-2021. Henceforth, this study will let the researchers

deal with numerical analysis and manipulate the pre-existing demographic data of the new freshman

enrollees. Using computational techniques, the researchers will be comparing and tallying the

aforementioned information which can crucially give knowledge to the admin as to how will they provide

students’ needs (for example: low household income but has average to high grades= scholarship).

This study will be conducted only within the confined campus perimeters of Silliman University since it

intends to explore the background influences and focus on the demographic data such as the age, sex,

gender, religion, family size, source of income, race, nationality, living status, and also the previous

school of each first year Silliman University college student enrolled in the first semester A.Y. 2020-

2021. This study will cover the current first year college population of Silliman University A.Y. 2020-

2021 and that alone.
