Chapter 1 Safety Description

1.3 Safety Instruction

Electric Safety

Danger!
Do not connect or remove any power cables when they are energized. Electric spark or
electric arc is generated at the moment the power cable contacts a conductor. In this case,
fire may occur or your eyes may be hurt.

Before installing and uninstalling the power cable, turn off the power switch.
Before connecting the cable, check that the connection cable and cable labels are
compliant with the actual installation conditions.

Warning!
It is forbidden to drill holes in a cabinet. Otherwise, you may damage the connecting wires
and cables inside the cabinet. Metal scraps produced by drilling can result in a shorted
circuit board if they enter the cabinet.

ESD

Caution!
The static electricity produced by the human body can damage the static-sensitive
components on the circuit board, like a large-scale integrated circuit (IC).

Accumulated electrostatic charges (ESC) derive from friction created by human body
movements. In a dry environment, the static voltage carried by a human body can be
up to 30 kV, and can remain in the human body for a long time. When an operator who
carries static electricity touches a component, he will discharge electricity through the
component, thus damaging it.

Before contacting the device, holding the board, circuit board or IC chip, in order to prevent
the human body electrostatic from damaging the sensitive components, it is necessary to
wear the antistatic wrist strap, and make the other end of the antistatic wrist strap well
grounded.

Laser

Warning!
Do not look at the laser beam from the optical transceiver exit or inside the optical fiber;
otherwise, your eyes may be hurt.

High Temperature

Danger!
The surface temperature of some devices is quite high, so do not touch them in case of
being scalded.

Fan

Warning!
To remove a fan, do not stick your finger or any tool into the running fan before it is powered
off and stops running, to avoid device damage or personal injury. Keep your body off any
dangerous parts that are still running.

While replacing the related parts, you must put away the parts, screws and tools properly
in case they fall into the running fan and damage the fan or related devices.
When replacing the devices around the fan, do not put your finger or any board into the
fan to avoid damage to the device or injury to your finger.

Hoisting Heavy Objects

Warning!
Do not walk about right under the boom and hoisted objects when heavy objects are
hoisted.

l When disassembling heavy devices, or moving and replacing devices, you must use
the facilities with a proper hoisting capability.

7.1.2 Cabling Principles

You must observe the following cabling principles:
l The cables of different types should be laid out separately along clear routes, should
be routed straightly and orderly without crossing. and should be bound into bundles
with a proper tightness.
l The cables are laid in the downward cabling mode. That is, all the incoming and
outgoing cables of the cabinet should pass through cabling holes with tight sealing at
the cabinet bottom.
l The cabling route should comply with the engineering design requirements, and the
cable ladder and cable tubes can be used to lay and protect the cables as needed.
l If cables need to be laid out in parallel inside the cable ladder, run signaling cable, AC
power cable, and feeder cable separately, with an interval of 100 mm. If possible, run
signaling cables and DC power cables separately.
l There shall be radian at the corner with radius meeting with the minimum bending
radius requirement (not less than 20 times of the outer diameter of the cable).
l If laid out on the cable ladder, the outdoor cables should be tie-wrapped tightly. If
horizontally, the binding interval is not more than 1 m. If vertically, the binding interval
is not more than 0.8 m. Bundle and fix the outdoor cables at the two sides of cable
bending.
l After tying cables tightly, the surplus cable part should be cut. For example, the
remaining length of each indoor cable should be cut off without sharp edge, and the
unwanted part of the outdoor cable should be leveled with a length of 3 m reserved.
l The surface of each cable should be clean without any construction mark and there
is no damage/scratch on the insulation layer.
l At cabling, the cables should be affixed with labels. for example, the engineering
subscriber cable labels, trunk cable labels, fiber cable labels and the power cable
labels. The labels should be pasted 2 cm from the ends, with the content indicating
the directions of the two ends: cabinet number + slot number + socket number. The
labels should be made in a two-end identifying manner, namely a label at one end
should indicate directions of both ends.
