Personal Statement

Going to college has always been a dream of mine because I watched how hard my
mother worked. She went to school while raising me, which made me want to work hard to be
successful like her. I saw her dedication to reach her goals and how hard it was to balance her
life. She always said, “after accomplishing all that work, it was worth it because it showed her
dedication and commitment to a better future.” The struggles I observed made me want to be
like her, successful and happy. Growing up, my parents always said education was the key to
living a good life and being proud of what you earn.

At El Capitan High School, I worked hard to balance my jobs and school. This has taught
me a lot through various experiences and made me find my passion. In high school, I focused
my classes around my passions like Vet Science, which allowed me to develop new skills for my
future. While growing up, I became a translator for my grandma, which demonstrated the
importance of being bilingual. Spanish and English became interchangeable to my future
success.
