Introduction
A hospital is considered one of the places where you can find a variety of instrument
and equipment (electrical, electronic, biomedical, …etc). So we can find a lot of
practical applications of theoretical information we studied in the university in the real
life and experience is gained.
We took training for four month in two Hospitals during this time we trained in the
most hospitals departments like I.C.U., Physiotherapy, Neuro-Electrophysiology,
Emergency, C.S.S.D., Radiology, Operating Theater, Laboratories, Men Ward and
Work Shop. Each department has special and basic equipment like in ICU (Patient
Monitor, Defibrillator, Syringe and Infusion Pumps), in Physiotherapy they used
(Short-Wave device, Ultrasound, CPM and Gymnasium equipment), in Neuro-
Electrophysiology we can see (EEG and ECG), in Emergency they used (Criticare
System, Physio-control, Ventilators,…), in Radiology they used (C.T. Scan,
Ultrasound, X-ray and Fluoroscopy), in Operation Theater we can see (Ventilator,
Operation Microscopes, Laparoscopes, Anesthesia equipment, Diathermy and C02
Laser,) and in Laboratories (Centrifuge, Gas Analyzer, Synchron Clinical system,
Dimension AR Clinical Chemistry System, Automated Hematology Analyzer and Slide
Stainer,…), but in the first few days we lean about hospital in general like we know
about: Transformer, Generator, Compressor Room, Main Electrical Room, Security
Room, Pland room, Water Main Room, Treatment Room and Main Medical Gas
System Room.
Also, during the training we attended two demonstration about E.C.G and Sterilization
and one seminar in tele-medicine about defibrillator/monitor series.

Objectives
The main objective points for this training course are as follow:

 Visiting the hospital to learn about its facilities like departments,

equipment, devices, instrumentation’s.
 Learning the Engineering principles that used in the biomedical
equipment usage, preventive maintenance, technical operation,
services and Safety factors.
 Making discussion for Healthcare product comparison system (HPCS).

Methodology
This training course follows the following steps in its methodology:

 Getting the names of the department and their equipment, which are
used in.

 Classifies the equipment according to their importance and operation.

 Reading the theory of the operation and service manual of the

equipment before entrance the word to get the benefit from the visit.

 Asking the end user about the device problems, which they have met
during usage, and how they co-operate with Biomedical department to
solve these problems.
