REMOVAL
1. BLOCK THE WHEELS.
1. Park the vehicle on level ground.
2. Block the wheels.
3. Shift the transmission shift lever into neutral.
NOTE: Be sure to apply wheel stoppers in the front
tires.

2. REMOVE THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY.
SHIFT KNOB
1. Unscrew the shift knob by hand and remove it.
2. Remove the center console with boot from the floor
of the cab.

3. Disconnect the control cables to the shift lever as-
sembly.

3. REMOVE THE CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY.


1. Raise the cab (Refer to OWNER’S MANUAL, cab
tilt procedure).

WARNING
Secure the safety pin. After raising the cab, com-
pletely insert the safety pin in the safety pin hole.
Otherwise the cab might come down and cause per-
sonal injury.

INSPECTION AND REPAIR


1. INSPECT AND REPLACE THE GEAR CONTROL IDLER
LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY.
1. Check the gear control idler lever sub-assembly for
wear and damage.
If necessary, replace parts.

2. Replace the bushing.


a. Using a press, remove the old bushing.

b. Using a press, install a new bushing and apply chas-
sis grease to the bushing.
NOTE: ● Press bush into the idler lever sub-assem-
bly carefully.
● Chassis grease: refer to RECOMMENDED
LUBRICANTS LIST.

2. INSPECT THE SHIFT LEVER AND BOOT FOR DAM-


AGE AND WEAR.
IF NECESSARY, REPLACE PARTS.

3. INSPECT AND REPLACE THE GEAR CONTROL IDLER
LEVER ASSEMBLY (SIDE OF FRAME RAIL).
1. Check the gear control idler lever sub-assembly for

INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL THE CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY.
1. Raise the cab (Refer to OWNER’S MANUAL, cab
tilt procedure).
WARNING

Tightening torque: 190 - 260 kg·cm (14 - 18 lb·ft)

 gear control idler lever sub-assembly.
If necessary, adjust the link rods, adjusting to the
specified dimensions shown.

 “A”: 459 - 461 mm (18.08 - 18.14 in.)

brackets and lock it with the clamps.

6. Install the cable fitting bolts.

Any looping should have a radius of more than 200
mm (7.874 in.).

3. Attach the control cables to the shift lever assembly


and lock it with the clamps.

4. Connect the control cables to the shift lever assem-


bly.
Tightening torque: 380 - 500 kg·cm (28 - 36 Ib·ft)

6. Install the knob on the shift lever.


CENTER CONSOLE
a. Tighten the knob by hand.
b. Face the shifting pattern on the knob so that it is read-
able.

ADJUSTMENT
1. ADJUST THE NEUTRAL POSITION OF THE GEAR
SHIFT LEVER.
1. Check that the distance between the knob center and
the steering wheel center conforms to the following;
Assembly standard: 375 mm (14.763 in.)

a. If not, adjust the length of the select lever control link.
b. Tighten the lock nut.
Tightening torque: 380 - 500 kg·cm (28 - 36 Ib·ft)
