Abstract

This study was entitled “School conditions and Its Influence on Learning

Satisfaction among selected Grade 12 Senior High School Students”. The

purpose of this study was to determine the level of school conditions and

students' learning satisfaction and the relationship of the two main variables.

Descriptive-correlative research design was used to determine the relationship

between the main variables. The respondents of the study were 50 randomly

selected Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students in General Santos

City National High School for the second semester S.Y 2018-2019. They were

given the same sets of questionnaires for the survey and weighted mean and

Pearson Product-Moment Correlation were used in interpreting and analyzing

the data. The findings showed that General Santos City National High School is

in good condition, along with to the learning satisfaction of students, therefore,

there is a significant relationship between the two variables. This implied that the

selected Grade 12 Senior High School Humanities and Social Science student

performs well in their academic aspect because they are satisfied in their school

conditions when it comes to their learning. The results suggested the addition of

facilities, improvement of the space convenience and environment to have a very

high level of good condition in the school and the very high extent of Grade 12

students’ learning satisfaction follow. This study serves as a tool to address the

existing problem in school.

Chapter I
INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

“School conditions” is defined as the state of the school as the institution

for educating children. It has an appropriate space convenience, facilities and

environment that make the students enjoy their learning process and

contentment within it. In addition, positive school environment produced good

academic performer students while unorganized school produces unsatisfied

students. According to Mushtaq and Shabana (2012), the students' performance

is linked to their outline of gratification to the progressive school.

A well-provided school has a good impact on the contentment of the

students' leaning, personalities and behaviors. In addition, the unsatisfied

students with regard to their school's environment also give a negative effect on

their school performances (Beelick, 2014). Students are highly dependent on the

environment of the school; some are determined to learn because they

appreciated the surroundings but there are also students who get disappointed

because of its bad condition.

However, providing more facilities and taking action on the problem will

help the students to become motivated at the same time satisfied with the

learning they experience. Hanssen and Solvoll (2014) stated that “to have a good

and quality schools like university it must have social areas, auditoriums, and

libraries for these are the factors that greatly influence the students' satisfaction

for their good outcome of the academic achievement.” It is a good way to learn
because learning can be experienced in various ways, but it is more fun when

the place a student is in to become literate is presentable for the students.

On the other hand, the poor condition of the school is sometimes

considered a hindrance in the learning of the students. It is a serious problem in

General Santos City National High School because school is seen as a place to

gain knowledge. Noisy surroundings like construction sites, tight spaces, and

poor quality of milieu will greatly affect not only the image of the school but also

the perception of the students' satisfaction in their learning process. Students

cannot easily apply the things they have learned because of lack of computers,

books as sources and laboratories. Lack of space and unhealthy environment

like negative atmosphere in school were also observed that made other students’

unease to acquire information.

A research study proposed to address the problems on school conditions

and its influence on learning satisfaction among selected Grade 12 Senior High

School students that focused more on the state of the institution and how it

associated the students' learning satisfaction. This study also attempted to

identify and prove the significant relationship between the two variables stated

above.

Therefore, the researchers had chosen this kind of problem for it was

commonly seen in school but had not been totally solved. Aside from being

concerned students, the researchers also wanted to reach an appropriate

solution to the problem. This studywill serveas a way to improvethe institution.

Statement of the Problem

This study described the school conditions and its influence on learning

satisfaction among selected Grade 12 Senior High School students of General

Santos City National High School for 2nd semester S.Y 2018-2019.

Specifically, it sought to answers the following questions:

1. What is the level of the school conditions as perceived by selected

Grade 12 Senior High School students in terms of:

1.1 Space Convenience;

1.2 Facilities; and

1.3 Environment?

2. What is the extent of learning satisfaction among Grade 12 Senior High

School students in terms of:

2.1 Space Convenience;

2.2 Facilities; and

2.3 Environment?

3. Does the level of school conditions significantly influence the extent of

learning satisfaction among selected Grade 12 Senior High School students?

Hypothesis

Ho 1: The level of school conditions did not significantly influence the extent

of learning satisfaction among selected Grade 12 Senior High School students.

Scope and Limitation

This study focused mainly on two major variables: school conditions and

learning satisfaction.

School condition is one of the major variables that have sub-variables that

focused on the specific condition of the school: space convenience that is being

occupied by students, facilities which referred to structure and buildings and

environment where knowledge is acquired. It indicated the state of school that

greatly shaped the students' learning satisfaction. On the other hand, learning

satisfaction as a second major variable targeted the level of contentment of the

students upon learning on their school. It centralized the gratification of selected

Grade 12 Senior High School students. General Santos City National High

School is the chosen area of the study which is located at Rizal Street, Brgy.

Calumpang, General Santos City particularly in Grade 12 Senior High School

Humanities and Social Sciences students for 2nd semester S.Y 2018 – 2019.

Significance of the Study

The following were the beneficiaries and benefits of this study.

Students. This study will give them satisfaction in terms of learning. It also

will give them the concept of what was the outcome of having a good school

condition. Also, it will serve as a way for the students to make a solution or

prevention in case they receive the bad result of having insufficient facilities and

other services.
School Principal. This study will give a positive outlook in school, and it

will increase skills at work. It will also give the ideas in the importance of having a

good institution for students and how it enhances their skills.

Assistant Principal for School’s Operation. This study will serve as a

guide to know the things which need improvements. It increased skills as they

continuously develop the abilities to help the school, teachers, and students.

Classroom Advisers. This study willgivemore confidence to the advisers

and it willencouragethem in motivating their students to improve their learning

performance in school. The advisers will be inspired in providing their

professional competence to the students.

Parents. This study willhelp them know if their children are satisfied or not

when it comes to gaining knowledge and it gave them the idea on how to guide

their children that are experiencing unhealthy school. Also, it will help them to

identify the performance of their children and the possible reasons for the results

of their grades.

Researchers. This study will give them the learning insights about the

relationship of the school conditions and how it associated with the students'

learning satisfaction. Itwill also helpthe researchers to reach an appropriate

solution to the problem they are studying about.

Future Researchers. This study will serve as reference data in

conducting new researches. Also, it will give them the overview of the study to

centralize the different concepts provided and categorized for a new source of

data.
Chapter II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

This chapter discussed the body of knowledge of the school conditions on

learning satisfaction among selected Grade 12 Senior High School students. It

included the variables of the study and justification, literature that presents the

ideas, concepts and generalizations, the study which contained findings and

recommendation of finished study, research gap and conceptual framework

which identified the dependent and independent variables of the study.

A. Related Literature

On space convenience of the school, Glatter et al. (2016) states that, a

classroom must have a spacious and appropriate setting for the students'

motivation in learning. In addition, space in classrooms will allow the teachers to

assist and conduct activity as lecture learning (Diaz and Lake, 2012). This is

significant to the current research since it implies that enough space of

classroom must be considered for effective learning and for the upgrade of

student's satisfaction with enough setting. The new study also focuses on the

space convenience of school as one factor that greatly shapes the student's

achievement in learning.

However, according to Sellors (2015), students’ learning is affected by the

overpopulation of the school and it can also interfere the instructional planning

and conduct of students as well as teachers. This is related to the present study

for it discusses about the factors that affects students’ learning satisfaction.
On the school's facilities. The advancement of the school according to

Kraft (2016) will humbly return the student's achievement and preservation of

teachers regardless of the possible benefits of giving importance to the school's

learning environment. One way to change the school is to improve the measure

of the school's climate. In addition, to avoid the students, teachers, and other

school personnel from harm in the process of learning, safety and proper

planning of the school's facilities must be considered and computers are

necessary in students’ learning wherein they discover their skills and it is more

advanced version of the new lessons in the school. Also, a right and relevant

source in the library helps the students enhance their learning beyond the

classroom (Ford 2015, Kumar 2016 and Lorie, 2018).

The ideas presented above are related to the present study for it focuses

on the advancement of school's facilities that helps to improve the students and

teacher's achievement regardless of the environmental hazards which should be

mean to recover and consider. This implies that having a good quality of facilities

will not be only beneficial to the student but also in teachers. It is necessary to

adopt a better equipment to maintain the harm-free institution.

Otherwise, Ibrahim et al. (2017), and Reeves LM, Priest PC, Poore MR.

(2012) stated that school facilities must be given attention from the educational

administrators to have its improvements for the students. The school must have

hand washing facilities because it is very important to the students for their

healthy lifestyle. This implies that hygienic facilities must be present in the school
to maintain the student’s healthy lifestyle. This is related to the currents study

because the importance of having proper hygienic facilities are being discussed.

Likewise, academic support services are very important in the provision of

the students’ academic performance and persistent usage of toilet and septic

tanks is very significant for the students (Sabio, 2012 and Emma et, al. 2016).

This justifies the significance of having enough facilities for the academic

performance of the students. Both studies are related because the discussions of

good facilities in the school are present in the current study.

Similarly, according to Department of Health (2013), school canteen

promotes enjoyment to the students wherein their ability to learn are being

enhanced because of the nutritious foods they intake. This means that students

are satisfied with their learning at school when they eat nutritious foods. This

supports the advantages of selling healthy foods in the school canteen.

On the school's environment. To achieve the improvement of grades of

the students, according to Waldman (2016) and UNESCO (2012), the school and

classroom must provide a positive atmosphere, ventilation, lighting and noise

level. Moreover, stress-free milieu must be implemented for the students and

teachers feel contented while staying in the institution. Also, adding a well-

managed classroom will improve and create a well surrounding for gaining

knowledge (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization,

2015). These concepts are relevant to the new researches for it discusses how

the school's environment plays an important role in the grades of students

denoted by their gratification on school. This explains that there are lots of ways
to improve the student's performance in school and one of those is having an

acceptable environment of the school.

Meanwhile, a poor school environment is being associated with low level

of teacher satisfaction which also includes messy or unsafe surroundings. Also,

the environment of the school is being affected by its values, rules, safety and

discipline policies and it influences the learning of students (National Center on

Safe Supportive Learning Environments, 2013 and Texas School Guide, 2019).

This implies that students are being affected by the poor school environment

which includes different factors. This is related to the present study because it

tackles about how poor school environment affect the students’ learning

satisfaction.

Furthermore, the Department of Education (2012) stated that school

buildings and school grounds are one of the factors that affect the health and the

safety of staff and visitors. This means that students must clean the surroundings

to avoid illness. This is related to the present study for it discusses the bad

effects of having a poor and unclean environment.

On learning satisfaction of selected Grade 12 Senior High School

students. Qs Digital Marketing (2017), states that the students' contentment

influences their enjoyment and ability to cooperate with a school activity. It is not

only important in improving one's life but also it is vital for maintaining the image

of the university. Likewise, university students' gratification has an implication in

different sectors such as in institution. Contented students are more likely to

succeed academically, and this will serve as the way in enhancing the financial
aspect and reputation of the school (Wikiversity, 2016). Consequently, according

to Herdlein and Zurner (2015), the school was viewed as a good place for

opportunity for improving and gaining new knowledge and skills to become a

successful professional.

The generalizations of Qs Digital Marketing (2017), Wikiversity (2016),

and Herdlein and Zurner (2015), are related to the current study for it indicates

on how student's learning satisfaction affects their performance in school and

how it associates the school image as the new study also conducted. This

signifies that in order to have a productive student they must obtain the learning

satisfaction shaped by the school's state.

Nevertheless, according to Weerasinghe and Fernando (2017) and

Fernando (2017), the student's contentment is associated with quality of school

specifically their satisfaction to the universities that have an impact on the

characteristics of school such as learning equipment. Similarly, the delectation of

the students is characterized by its assessment of the school features such as

services. It is related to study which is the students' satisfaction wherein it stated

that the universities must acquire the good condition of the school such as having

a good facility and availability of equipment which are significant to the students

to perform well efficiently and effectively.

B. Related Studies

The findings in the study of Figueroa (2016) entitled "Investigating the

relationship between school facilities and academic achievements through

geographical weighted regression", states that schools in rural areas with

essential facilities found that they performed preferably than those in urban

schools that lack of school equipment. This indicates the importance of facilities

in the remote area whereas; the effect of student's academic achievement

depends on the social, economic and provision of the school. The new study

discusses the possible result of having a good condition that may have a huge

impact on the performance of the students specifically in rural areas. This implies

that it is not only the school that affects the students but also the place it is

located and that should be the focus of the study.

A similar study of Olubukola (2012), that focused on the impact of the

facilities on academic performances of the students with the special

mainstreamed public school on Southwestern Nigeria. It is cited that the lack of

staff in public school resulted in the low academic performance of students with

special educational needs. In contrast to the school with enough necessity, that

is why enough fund for the integrated school to resist the problem. The present

study tackles the facilities of the school wherein it has a significant role in the

student's daily lives.

Meanwhile, according to the study of Matshipi, Mulaudzi and Mashau

(2017) lack of spaces in the classroom has a negative effect on the

performances of the students and teachers. It is commonly seen in many rural

areas that serve as the hindrance on their teaching process. This is relevant to

the current study since it discusses the effect of having a lack of space in the

classroom which needed equal attention for the satisfaction of the students.

In contrast to the study of Yang et al. (2016) entitled "The effect of a

classroom and school environments on students' engagement: the case of the

high school of students in Abu Dhabi public schools". According to them, the

school environment great shaped the student's emotion and their cognitive skills

in engaging the learning process. It can relate to the present research for it

indicates how the environment greatly affects the students' emotion and their

capability to learn.

Another study by Jones (2017), which focused on school congestion in the

Philippines: A breakthrough Solution stated that one of the reasons why students

cannot concentrate on their lessons because of having a lack of space in a

classroom-based which also makes the teacher difficult to do their teaching

methods such as having a group work. It explains that this is related to the

present study because it discusses the negative effects of having not enough

space in classroom towards the students and teachers.

On the other hand, studying the environment of the institution will

determine the fundamental of having a good quality of services in school that will

affect the students, which makes it related to the present study. Quality of service

provided by the school is one of the fundamental impacts on students'

satisfaction. Also, the study is important to determine the different perceptions of

the students to the formulated investigation about the service quality to their

loyalty. (Annamdevula and Bellamkunda, 2016).

Opposite to the study conducted by Metsamuuronen, Renata and Illic

(2012), entitled: "Change in Pupils and Students' Attitudes toward school as a

fraction of age which cited that pupils and students with higher academic

performance as well as the girls were more satisfied than boys. This finding is

relevant to the study for it also points out the significance of student's satisfaction

with their academic performances.

Otherwise, the five dimensions of higher education services gravity affect

the contentment of the students which also affects the image of the school and

students in loyalty. In addition, higher education must aim for the comfortable and

progressive school together with satisfaction and related economic results that

encourage academic and policy literature as well as the university rankings and

student survey (Yuan et al. 2014, and Elwick and Cannizaro, 2017).

The findings presented above are related to the recent research because

it focuses on the positive structure of having a student that was satisfied to their

school's condition such as improving the university ranking and the image of the

institution. The present study also focuses on the good outcome of having a

contented student which makes it related to each other.

Lastly, a study is conducted by Gibbs (2016), that the points out the

achievement of a student of to their contentment. According to him, the student's

contentment has also a variety of considerations like after achieving satisfaction;

one must have to consider the negative effect yet significant to complete the
study. The students that already achieved their contentment preserve their

present experiences while seeking to the improvement of the service quality of

the school and it indicates have many highlighted aspirations to satisfaction

hinder the mission of universities which is to educate.

C. Research Gap

The study of Figueroa (2016), excluded the students in urban areas

instead it focused on the students who belong to a rural place. It added the social

and economic of the school as one factor that affects the students' academic

achievement. Similarly, to the study of Matshipi et al. (2017) and Jones (2017),

that also focused on students belong to rural areas and they also included to

their study the teachers that were also affected by the school's condition.

However, the study of Olobukola (2012), focused on the students with

special educational needs as his participants. In like manner, Matsamuuronen,

Suedlin, and Illic (2012), focused on pupils as their participants also.

In contrast to the study of Yuan et al. (2016), Annamdevula and

Bellamkunda (2014) that added students' emotion and their different perception

that was shaped by the school's condition.

On the other hand, the study of Yuan (2014), Elwick and Cannizzaro

(2017), indicated the image of the school and economic results that was denoted

by the students' satisfaction to school.

Otherwise, the study of Gibbs (2016), pointed out the negative effect too

much focusing on achieving satisfaction.

Therefore, to address the prevailing problem, the study on the school

conditions and its influence on learning satisfaction among selected Grade 12

Senior High School students will be determined, considering the research gap

cited above.

D. Conceptual Framework

The level of the school conditions in terms of space convenience, facilities

and environment were the independent variable because the researchers had

collected and gathered the data from the respondents without any support from

the other variable and because the state of the school is the main focused of this

study.

However, any attempt to study the level of students’ learning satisfaction

to their space convenience, facilities and the environment was influenced by

state of the school that was why, this variable was considered as the dependent

variable since the researchers cannot proceed with the study by simply searching

for the students’ satisfaction itself.

Therefore, the school conditions in terms of space convenience, facilities

and environment can stand independently unlike the students’ learning

satisfaction which needs a support from the other variable. These variables were

closely related to each other to complete the study.

Chapter III
METHODOLOGY

This chapter presented the description of the research design selection,

respondents, locale of the study, map of the location, data collection, sampling

technique, instrumentation, data analysis and interpretation, and

operationalization of variables applied in this study.

Design

The present study used descriptive-correlationalresearch design for it

described the phenomena that are useful to the different conditions and

situations obtained among subjects and determined the relationship of two

variables (Calmorin, 2016).

The first variable was the school conditions where it collected detailed and

information about the situation of the school. It described in this design and the

result of this variable served as the basis in determining the relationship of

learning satisfaction among selected Grade 12 Senior High School students

which was the second variable.

Respondents

The respondents of this study were 50 selected Grade 12 Senior High

School students particularly in Humanities and Social Science strand for the 2 nd

semester S.Y 2018-2019. The total number of respondents was based on the
calculated sample where each section was divided to the total population of

Humanities and Social Sciencesstudentswhich is 245 and multiply to 50%.

These were the chosen respondents since they already encountered the

condition of the school for a long period of time. Also, the researchers can easily

relate and get the standard calculated data by the respondents because they

were also Grade 12 and from Humanities and Social Sciences strand.

Locale of the Study

This study was conducted at General Santos City National High School

where the former assistant School Division Superintendent Leonor F. Penalosa

and the late Mayor Antonio C. Acharon realized the need to put a public

secondary school for the rapid increase of students in the area, resulting to the

construction of the General Santos City National High School located at Rizal

Street, Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City which caters to the

educational need of the new and flourishing community. Theinstitution started to

operate in July 1980 with the passage of a resolution by the

SangguniangPanlungsod and subsequently by the virtue of Republic Act 6642.

In addition, in five years Mrs. Cristina N. Mari made significant academic

and infrastructure developments giving the school a privileged and distinguished

reputation as a School Leader School. Likewise, since its birth in 1980 General

Santos City National High School, indeed, has been living up to its worth as the

Premier Public School in the city. The next page showed the map of the location

of the study.
Figure 2. Map of the General Santos City National High School
Data Collection

The following steps were considered in conducting the study.

1. Formulated a research questionnaire used in this study;

2. Asked permission to at least three experts by writing a letter of validation

invitation to evaluate and approve the questionnaire;

3. Asked permission to the principal by writing a letter of approval to conduct

a study;

4. Gave the letter with approval of principal to the concerned Grade 12 track

head and teachers to allow the students to be the respondents of the

study;

5. Conducted the survey with Humanities and Social Sciences students as

the qualified respondents; and

6. Analyzed and tabulated the data gathered to get the result of the survey.

Sampling Technique

The sampling design used in the study was Stratified Random Sampling

or also called proportional random sampling for it involved the division of a

population into smaller groups known as strata (Kenton, 2017).

There were 5 sections in HUMSS strand, each section wasrandomly

selected at least 10 students per section to answer the questions provided. This

technique was suitable to the study for it broke the sample population into distinct

subgroups.
Instrumentation

The school conditions and its influence on learning satisfaction among

selected Grade 12 Senior High School students’ instrumentation was created by

the researchers based on the related literature and studies. It focused on the

statements that answered the research question about the school conditions

specifically in terms of space convenience, facilities and environment. Another

questionnaire was created by the researchers that contained statements that

answered the research question about the students’ level of learning satisfaction.

The questionnaires created were validated and evaluated by three experts where

each one of validators gave their rates on the questions provided.

Data Analysis and Interpretation

In SOP1 and SOP2, to describe the school conditions and learning

satisfaction, the weighted mean was used where the average on the answers of

the students was computed. The data on school conditions and students’

learning satisfaction was observed according to the mean of the sets of

arithmetic of all the answers. It was interpreted through range of level.

Range Interpretation
1.00-1.49 Very Low Level
1.50-2.49 Low level
2.50-3.49 Moderate Level
3.50-4.49 High Level
4.50-5.00 Very High Level

In SOP3, to identify the relationship of the school conditions and students’

learning satisfaction, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation wereutilized wherein

identifying the relationship of two variables was observed. It was interpreted the

correlation of variables according to the coefficient. Also, it will determine if the

two variables have significant relationship if the P-value is greater than 0.05 or

95% level of significance.

Range Interpretation

As shown in table 1, the grand mean of the sub-variables in the level of

school conditions was interpreted through range of level. In space convenience,

the indicator that had the highest mean was the classroom has enough space for

learning with 4.18 mean that was described as high and with a standard

deviation of 0.66. Next to that was the seats in the classrooms were properly

managed with 3.62 mean that was described as high with the standard deviation

of 0.88. The indicator that had the lowest mean was there was a ground area for

student activities with 3.18 mean that was described as moderate with standard

deviation of 0.90 and the grand mean of this sub-variable was 3.63 which was

described as high level.

In facilities, the indicator that had the highest mean was separate toilet

facilities for male and female with 4.44 mean that was described as high and with

a standard deviation of 0.81. Next to that was there was a provision of computer

laboratory for students with 4.16 mean that was described as high and with a

standard deviation of 0.98. The lowest mean got 3.00 that was described as

moderate, school has safe drinking facilities with a standard deviation of 0.93.

The grand mean got 3.78 that was also described as high level.

In environment, the indicator that had the highest mean was there was a

culture of discipline in the school with 4.30 mean that was described as high

which got a standard deviation of 0.79. Next to that was the students and

teachers were accommodating and approachable with 3.96 mean that was

described as high with a standard deviation of 0.81. The lowest mean got 3.52

that was described as high, the school environment was generally clean with a
standard deviation of 0.91. The grand mean of the third sub-variable was 3.92

that was also described as high level.

The overall mean of the level of school conditions was 3.78 meant that

school is in good state or the school provided the necessary needs of the

students on their learning process. According to Persaud (2014), a well-improved

school exercises the proper space planning and measurement of the school will

involve the students and encourage them in collaboration, discussion and project

base learning. Likewise, Picus (2013) stated that aside from physical structure,

an excellent school condition is consisting of systems like mechanical and

electrical power and suppression systems. Furthermore, good school condition

promotes and active positive behaviors that reflects their conduct, equity, and

inclusive educational policy (Ontario Ministry of Education 2012).

Table 2 in the next page showed the result of level of learning satisfaction

among selected Grade 12 Senior High School students. In space convenience,

the indicator that had the highest mean was students enjoyed learning at General

Santos City National High School because of enough space in classroom with

3.92 mean that was described as high with standard deviation of 0.85. Next to

that was the students were delighted in maintaining their good performance in

their well-managed classroom with 3.86 mean which was described as high with

standard deviation of 0.76. The lowest mean was 3.22 that was described as

moderate with standard deviation of 0.72, the students were active in the school

because they had areas for school clubs. The grand mean for this sub-variable

was 3.70 that was described as high level.

In facilities, the indicator that had the highest mean was the students were

participative during class with 3.92 mean that was described as high with

standard deviation of 0.78. Next to that was the students were responsible in

applying the things they had learned in class with 3.84 mean that was described

as high with standard deviation of 0.68. The lowest mean was the students were

excited to search answers of their assignment in their school library with 2.78

mean that was also described as moderate with standard deviation of 1.00. The

grand mean is 3.50 which was described as high level.

In environment, the indicator that had the highest mean was the students

had positive learning with 4.02 mean that was described as high with standard

deviation of 0.71, next to that was the students were motivated or inspired to go

students were participative in group activities because of the harmonious

environment and the grand mean was 3.78 which was described as high level.

The overall mean of the students learning satisfaction was 3.66 which

mean the students were satisfied to their learning in their school. According to

Williams (2018), a satisfied student in the lessons they acquire has the ability to

master a diverse set of skills, creates intelligence and persistence qualities that

attracts the employers. In addition, the interest of the students to learn increases

when they are satisfied in their learning (Hsu, 2017). The statements presented

supports the result of table 2, which signifies that when the level of students’
learning satisfaction is high it means the students are performing well in their

class discussions and academic performance.

Table 3 showed that the level of school conditions significantly influenced

the students’ learning satisfaction among selected Grade 12 senior High School

students. The computed r= 0.702 or 49.3% described as moderate relationship or

substantial relationship of the two variables and the P-value was 0.004 less than

0.05 which was the level of significance therefore the null hypotheses were

rejected. As the level of school conditions increased, the learning satisfaction

among students in Grade 12 Humanities and Social Science strand also

increased.

In addition, according to Zackrzewski (2013), positive school condition will

help the students to solve their problem and it increases their academic

achievement, motivation and psychological wellbeing associated by their

satisfaction in school. Similarly, the good setting of the school is related to school

success. It also improves the student’s attendance and even the rates of

graduation (National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments 2013).

Moreover, according to Gruber et al. (2013) the milieu of the school such as

quality of services and the physical setting plays an important to students’

gratification. This implies that the school will affect the learning of students.

Chapter V
FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the summary of research work undertaken, the

conclusions drawn, and the recommendations made as an outgrowth of this

study.

Summary

This study described the school conditions and its influence on learning

satisfaction among selected Grade 12 Senior High School students of General

Santos City National High School for 2nd semester S.Y 2018-2019.

Specifically, it sought to answers the following questions:

1. What is the level of the school conditions as perceived by selected

Grade 12 Senior High School students in terms of:

1.1 Space Convenience;

1.2 Facilities; and

1.3 Environment?

2. What is the extent of learning satisfaction among Grade 12 Senior High

School students in terms of:

2.1 Space Convenience;
