add it to the doc.

R25 27k-100k R25 39k This value varies and is selected

based on your meters calibration
needs. 39k is what was in my UA
reference unit but this unit also
sports an actual Beede meter. I'm
not sure if the current reissues use
a Beede meter since they are no
longer manufactured.

R28 470k R28 330k Non critical location, sets neon
current. The UA uses both the
Zener and the Neon which may
explain the difference here.
R29 4k7 2w R29 2k2 2w UA made a change here. Vintage
Metal Oxide LA2A's use either 4k7 or 10k. See

R38 22k R38 NA Here's the deal…
**As explained by Scenaria May 20, 2005 of the 'All things LA2A related' thread at GroupDIY.com …and I will add this based on my research.

It's just 2 different revisions of the schematics… one isn't really any better than OR the UA version
the other… the one without R38 is an older revision... the one with R38 is a
newer revision... pick one and stick with it. R29 2.2k 2w
R34 22k 2w
R36 1k
No R38 or C13 needed
R40 1k (between R29 and CR1)

NA R39 1k This is a grid stopper. Good for

stability and commonly added by
DIY'ers.
NA R40 1k Presumably UA added this as surge
protection for the diodes?

NA R41 470k / Zener Some folks like the Zener in place

Diode of the neon bulb. UA did both. The
neon is nice for 2 reasons.

1. It lets you know the unit is on

when poking around inside
2. It's MORE RETRO!

C14 50-380pF C14 NA

"C14 is in the detector part of the
circuit & causes the unit to react to
the higher frequencies more. The
sound to me is somewhat like a D-
esser. The caps value affects the
frequency itself. Nobody seems to
know where it should be set stock
so you?ll have to listen and see for
yourself. Some guys don?t use it at
all. Without the cap, the detector
is un-weighted & reacts more
evenly to all frequencies."

C? with NE2 470pF C? with NE2 NA See R41 notes for more info.
