For this brief I created three adverts one for a billboard, one for online distribution
and one for a bus stop stand. I believe I have been able to complete the brief because I
created advertisements which promote mental health. The bus stop image has an
image of a lady, with a tagline next to her ‘talk to us we are here’. The tagline has
been used as it is a direct message talking one on one to person it is targeting, which
can make it feel more personal to the audience. The main objective of the poster was
to display the understanding of the effects of mental health and how it effects young
people. I added the female as I believed that it would be more suitable and appealing
to attract the target audience as she looks approachable. At the bottom of the poster I
created a website link and a contact number, this interacts more as it will help them to
seek out help in easy ways. Company logo are typical conventions in a advertising
poster and to make poster feel more authentic and reliable. The cream colour chosen
for the background was done as it seems calming and also attracts the audience from
far away as it is visually appealing.
In this billboard advertisement, I have added a little girl this follows the assignment
brief as it is targeting young people from the ages of 16-19, by choosing this as the
main image I think it effectively appeals to the target audience, because she displays
the emotions of how many young feel struggling with mental health. I had used the
slogan ‘don’t be ashamed to share your story’, this will draw the attention of people
passing. I had darkened the image to connotate back to how people feel with mental
illness. I had also added contact information for them to be able to feel secure and
they are not alone and when they need help they can easily contact.

This advertisement is being used for online distribution as using social media expands
the likeliness of more people seeing the advert. This advert is simple with different
mottos and slogans. ‘How are you’, directly talks to the audience. This advert reflects
the third Donald Gunn’s technique “symbolise the problem “as it demonstrates the
problem of victims suffering in silence through them being silent with their own
thoughts. ‘together we can get through this’ affirms the statement that they are not
alone and people are there for them if they need any help.
