Review Sustainability Report

PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk 2019

PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk. (ANJ) is a holding company that engages primarily in
producing and selling Crude Palm Oil, Palm Kernel and other sustainable food crops was established
on April 16, 1993 under the name PT Austindo Teguh Jaya (ATJ) and was changed to ANJ on July
16, 1988. ANJ does not only focus on oil palm platantion, but also oversees sago project, edamame
cultivation in cooperation with local farmers and entered into a strategic partnership with AJI HK
Limited to facilitate frozen edamame’s market expansion into Asia Pacific region. ANJ is committed
to continuing innovation and efficiency in all its lines of business. The company’s effort to improve
productivity goes hand in hand with its commitment to conserve the environment and elevate the
people’s lives.

Based on 2019 financial statement, total comprehensive income for the year on PT ANJ Tbk
is USD 2.196.848, it’s better than previous year. While the basic loss for the year attributable to
owners of the company and non-controlling interests is USD 4.558.192. Consolidates statement of
financial position presents total assets of USD 625.708.104, while total liabilities is USD
237.000.043.

PT ANJ recognizes three pillar of sustainable development: Business Prosperity, People and
Planet. These three pillar are interdependent (without one, the other cannot develop). Each pillar has
its own requirements: long-term economic viability (Business Prosperity) requires reasonable and
sustainable returns for its shareholders. Human well-being (Humans) requires social and economic
growth, and natural resource stewardship and environmental management (Planet) requires prudent
management of the environment and conservation of natural habitats, such as forests and peatlands,
which also provide benefits (such as water) to he Company.

As a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), PT ANJ committed to


complying with all the RSPO Principles & Criteria and their additional requirements. Guiding
Principles for sustainability policy are as follows; Corporate and Social Responsibility/CSR,
Transparency and Non-exploitation.

In 2019, PT ANJ updated our sutainability policy us to include the latest RSPO Principles and
Criteria, includes the following:

1. Responsible development in new areas who use an integrated landscape approach


2. Comprehensive protection and conservation for areas that are independently identified as
Conservation Value High-High Carbon Stock (HCV-HCS) and primary forest
3. No land clearing for oil palm in the area independently identified as HCV and HCS according to
the RSPO protocol. Development in the region identified as the HCS asociated with the case
unfinished runs, wil folow with strict RSPO requirements and protocols
4. Do not undertake any new development in peat areas at any depth as well as peatland
conservation
5. Commitment to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions
6. No land burning
7. Exercise caution when developing on the ground vulnerable areas, slopes and waterways
(including watersheds river)

As for the CSR program implemented by PT ANJ, namely:

 Peatland Protection And Management


Through the sustainability policy, PT ANJ commit not to do construction and new plantings
in peatland according to the principles and criteria RSPO and regulatiuons in Indonesia. PT
ANJ applies best practice management at all peatland in its concenssion area, especially for
maintain water level to prevent carbon release and fire risk, as well as for provide benfits to
the ecosystem such as flood buffer and water suppliers to platantions.
 Fire Prevention And Managemenet
Ensure peatlands within the control area remain wet through water level management but not
always easy to maintain during the dry season, too access satellite-based hotspot activity
monitoring and conduct local monitoring using a watchtower fire and Unmanned Aerial
Vehicle.
 Intergrated Pest Management
Pest control in palm oil plantations in 2019, such as caterpillars, termites, beetles and rats
have been controlled.
 Waste Management
The use of waste materials is discussed in the section on biogas generated from POME and
composting using empty fruit bunches and POME to produce fertilizer organic, processed
POME is aldo used directly in the dicth at among oil palm trees as a source of nutrition.
Liquid waste that is processed in the biogas reactor pond is used as a liquid fertilizer to be
applied to land and according to permits and KLHK quality standards.
