“I’m still constantly amazed and
inspired by the kind of people I can
call my colleagues.”

TANMAY BCG has been a fantastic experience―from my

CONSULTANT very first week in London, working on a bailout of
BCG LONDON one of the largest banking systems in Europe, to
a recent project in Africa, helping a national trans-
portation company plan its workforce strategy. The
exposure you get straight from university is incredible.
My last case was a £13B deal, where I was presenting
daily to the CEOs of each of the company's business
units.

Having studied social sciences at university, I joined

BCG because I was looking for a place where people
were capable of delivering concrete impact, rather
than getting lost in the theory. The work we do is
challenging and stimulating, and I'm still constantly
amazed and inspired by the kind of people I can
call my colleagues; people from around the world
with different experiences, educations and cultures.
“It’s almost like an apprenticeship
in business when you first join—
I can’t think of a better all round
introduction.”

JENNY It's been five years since I started at BCG and not a
PRINCIPAL single day has ever been the same. The fast-paced
BCG LONDON atmosphere, the sheer variety of projects and the
complexity of the problems we solve mean that
you are continually learning. Combine this with the
most dynamic, successful clients and a fantastic
group of intellectually curious BCG consultants and
you really do have a unique place to work.

Solving challenging client issues isn't always easy,

but the great thing about BCG is that you always
feel supported. Teams work as one, with the Project
Leaders, Principals and Partners coaching Associates
and Consultants on a day-to-day, or sometimes
hour-by-hour, basis. All this is on top of an excellent
local and European training programme. It's almost
like an apprenticeship in business when you first
join—I can't think of a better all-round introduction.

BCG has enabled me to focus on the industry

sector that I'm most excited by—retail—while also
enabling me to combine a personal passion—travel.
Projects have taken me around the world, from
Spain to Azerbaijan to New York. Sydney is next on
my wish list!
“It is a community of driven people,
striving to make a long lasting positive
impact on businesses, societies and
countries in the Middle East”

HRISHIKESH My time at BCG has been an incredible journey –

CONSULTANT from my very first week in Dubai, I have worked
BCG DUBAI on complex business problems and helped shape
public policies of national importance, across a
wide range of topics and industries. Every project is
a fast-paced learning environment where you often
venture into new and unknown areas. The most
rewarding part of working at BCG Dubai are the
people, a group of intellectually curious and incredibly
talented personalities coming from all parts of the
world and working together as one team.

Having studied at Oxford, I joined BCG Dubai

because I was excited to work on large-scale and
high-impact problems. Ever since, I have helped
set up a new national SME development agency,
transformed the banking supervision framework
for a G-20 central bank and developed growth
strategies for merchant banks, insurance providers
and investment funds. Moreover, I have had oppor-
tunities to present to CEOs and heads of business
on a regular basis.

In a short period of time, BCG has given me the

opportunity to serve clients in 5 different countries
in the Middle East. My journey continues next year
as I take part in the Associate Abroad Program.
“What fascinates me most about
working at BCG is the diversity of
my colleagues and of the challenges
we solve as a team”

ANN-KATHRIN BCG enables me to combine my passion for

CONSULTANT organizational topics with the opportunity to work
BCG HAMBURG with highly dynamic and successful clients who are
pioneers in their fields. BCG Germany provides me
with an exceptional range of projects and assignments
with an international scope. As part of BCG’s People
and Organisation Practice Group, I most enjoy
working at the heart of our clients’ organizations.
Together, we strive to embrace new ways of working
in an age of constant digital disruption and fast-paced
evolution.

After completing an undergraduate degree in busi-

ness in Germany, I studied economics, international
relations, and psychology at the Universities of St.
Andrews and Cambridge. Throughout my studies,
I focused on economic decision-making.

HOW TO WIN THE GAME

CONTACT INFO How we structured the media problem

BCG London • How many extra customers would buy a
20 Manchester Square subscription to our sports channels because of
London W1U 3PZ the football? How much would they pay?
United Kingdom
• How many extra customers would subscribe to
Tel: +44 207 753 5353 our overall service because of the football?
lonrecruiting@bcg.com How much would they be prepared to pay?
UKInternationalRecruiting@bcg.com • If a competitor wins, will customers leave the
careers.bcg.com client or not subscribe to its packages?
www.bcg.com

Headline answers to those questions

• The client could not make a profit from selling
add-on football subscriptions alone
• However, if we won, the client would get more
subscribers overall…
• …and if a competitor won the auction, 10% of
existing subscribers would leave

Solutions
• The client should bid solo and very high – up
to double the revenue available from direct
subscriptions
• If possible, the client should partner with a
competitor to share the cost of the rights

Impact
• The client was able to find a partner, and they
won the auction together, gaining the rights to
show football for the next five years
• The client has since outperformed all competitors
in subscriber growth, including its partner, by
using the money saved to invest in other content
