B. ICT in Global Context of Communication

1. Education

Information and Communication

Technology (ICT) in education is the
mode of education that uses information
and communications technology to
support, enhance, and optimize the
delivery of information.

Worldwide research has shown

that ICT can lead to an improved student
learning and better teaching methods. A
report made by the National Institute of Multimedia Education in Japan, proved that an
increase in the use of ICT in education with integrating technology to the curriculum has a
significant and positive impact on students’ achievements. The results specifically showed
that the students who are continuously exposed to technology through education has
better ‘knowledge’, presentation skills, innovative capabilities, and are ready to take more
efforts into learning as compared to their counterparts.

2. Commerce

Data on the use of information and

communication technologies (ICT) in enterprises
and e-commerce is used to obtain qualitative and
internationally comparable statistical information on
the use of ICT (computers, Internet, web-page ect) in
enterprises and development of e-commerce
(purchase, orders etc).

3.
Telecommunication

Information and communications

technology (ICT) is an extensional term for
information technology (IT) that stresses the
role of unified communications and the
integration of telecommunications (telephone
lines and wireless signals) and computers, as
well as necessary enterprise software,
middleware, storage and audiovisual systems,
that enable users to access, store, transmit,
and manipulate information.

The ICT and telecommunications area is rapidly developing, with new innovations
impacting on every aspect of daily life, from health care to computers to transport. Each
innovation brings the possibility of entirely new product developments. It is a robust and
exciting sector to work in, with new specialisms constantly emerging.

4. Sports and Recreation

ICT is extremely useful in sports for many

reasons as video officials use ICT to help them
make decisions which would be hard to see
normally. The use of ICT makes the results more
accurate and well-organized. Some sporting
organizations may use a computer to assess
sports injuries.

5. Arts Design and Music

The ability of students to

communicate with other students
through ICTs will play an important role
in their learning success. They
participate in the development of ideas,
making connections, creating and
creating works of visual arts with
cooperation and communication, and
ultimately evaluating artwork. The use of
ICT in the music classroom also has the
potential to challenge traditional
approaches to music teaching and learning.

6. Health services

ICT has revolutionized healthcare in

many developing countries by more efficiently
disseminating public health information and
facilitating consultation in health issues. ICT
also means better collaboration and sharing of
learning and training among health workers.
The use of ICT in administrative systems of
health care facilities brings huge gains in
efficiency and cost savings. Thousands of lives
are already being saved though the monitoring
of public health threats using ICT which also
allows a faster and more effective response.
7. Science and Research

ICT can provide access to a huge range

of resources that are of high quality and
relevant to scientific learning. ICT also allows
teachers with different teaching styles to
modify materials and the way they are used in
different and effective ways. ICT can improve
the quality of data available to students.

8. Travel and Hotel Bookings

The Information Communications

Technologies (ICT) plays a major role in
tourism, travel and hospitality industry. The
strategic goal is to integrate ICT with tourism
that will enable more accessibility, visibility
of information, availability of variety of
products and satisfaction.

9. Business and Accounting

ICT has been a major factor of efficient

accounting system and great organizational
performance recently. ICT has been used to
augment the reliability of accounting
information and organizational performance.
Accounting systems include the computer
hardware and software fundamentals in
recording accounting information.
10. Military

ICT is the acronym for

Information and Communication
Technology and it has introduced a
variety of transformations in defense
industry in terms of advancements in
their weapons like smart weapons and
management for battlefield in
network-centric, superiority in air and
outer space, real time combat
surveillance and force multipliers on
basis of software.

Looking into smart weapons, ICT has changed the way of entire defense industry in
grand manner. Industry has produced dumb bombs previously and with the help of ICT
defense industry produced smart weapons. These are very efficient and accuracy is very
high. With the help of this the individuals are able to communicate much frequent and
inform their weapon status to their commanders. If they require weapons very urgently
based on situation in battlefield they can seek them very comfort to target their enemies
and accurately destroy the target without creating any damages to surroundings.
