Informative Speech

Introduction:

What does it take to write a persuasive speech? How do you want to sell what you are speaking to a
wider audience? Those are the things that I am going to discuss with you today to prepare you in how
to not only a successful speech writer but to deliver it in an informative manner in which you will
approach me afterwards to follow up because you are so interested. The key aspects that I will discuss
are establishing your credibility and building trust with your audience as well as capturing your
attention.

Body:

I. I remember sitting in a large room filled with people, nervous because I did not know what to
expect from this meeting. However when the presenter cam out, pitched a group of us on his
ideas and all I remember is I was so enamored by his presentation, that when he asked who
wanted to sign up that I instantly and without hesitation raised my hand to be the first. Every
time I think about public speaking, I remember that story and wanted to share that with you.
II. How can you achieve that type of success speaking in front of others?
III. A persuasive speech and delivery contain many parts, but none more important that relating to
and capturing your audience’s attention.
IV. To do this you must be adequately prepared not only on the subject matter you are going to
deliver but the various references that you will need to leverage and use in order to adequately
prepared and effective.
V. To do this you must first need establish credibility with your audience you should show some
form of skill set and /or knowledge in the subject you going to present.
VI. Without credibility your entire speech may be moot, and you will be less effective at convincing
people.
VII. It can be relatively easy to establish credibility. This can be done with personal experience such
as the length of time you have spent doing a thing, including your experience or expertise with
that subject matter or even any achievements you have made within that profession or
experience.

VIII.When you are ready to present your speech make sure you have what you want to address
properly is outlined including all your transition and queues.
IX. this would include any supporting material in the form of various visual aids to drive your
message home and sway the audience to your favor.
X. The visual aids can be anything from chart or graphs, references to materials on the subject,
very formal to informal however should always support what you are attempting to convey and
shouldn’t distract from your central point.
XI. During the presentation your body language and how you deliver your speech can also have a
profound impact on persuading your audience. All of this should be included in your speaking
outline so that you know how to make proper transitions between various topics and ease your
audience to making you more believable and thus more effective as a public speaker.
XII. You can also attempt to capture your audience’s attention by delivering personal antidote which
will also help in establishing credibility.
XIII. Once you have established your credibility and captured your audience’s attention you can
easily convey any subject matter you wish and it will be easier to convince your audience with
the message you are attempting to convey. Without either and you may not be able to
persuade your audience and may come off as not believable.

Conclusion:

In order to have an effective informative or persuasive speech, one must not only be fully prepared
along with visual aids and the way you are going to deliver it, but above all else you need to establish
your credibility and build trust with the audience this will give you more confidence and the ability to
confidently convey your message. You further need to know your audience and anticipate their
responses and or reactions with your presentation. Knowing your audience is the key to a successful
speech writing as well as delivery.
