Due to the large number of


species of plants and animals,
scientist put similar animals in
groups. This is called
classification.
How are living things classified?
What are Vertebrates and
Invertebrates ?

Vertebrates are animals that


have a backbone while
invertebrates are animals
without a backbone.
Which animals are vertebrates?

These animals include:


Fish
Birds
Reptiles
Amphibians
Mammals
Which animals are invertebrates?

The groups of invertebrates


include: jellyfish and sea
anemones, flatworms,
roundworms, segmented
worms, molluscs, starfish and
sea urchins and arthropods.

Flattened body with no


segments (divisions).

Long thin body with no


segments.

foot.
