Clean seas is North’s loss prevention initiative
to promote good practice and compliance
with environmental legislation.
Clean seas demand careful planning and
interdepartmental cooperation when oil transfer
operations are required.
Clean seas are dependent on crew familiarisation
with national and international environmental
legislation.
Clean seas require the crew to be trained in
the implementation of company procedures
associated with oil transfer, and strict compliance
with the vessel’s SOPEP/SMPEP plan.
Clean seas and spill containment require
comprehensive spill prevention measures to
be implemented before oil transfer operations
commence.
Clean seas can only be achieved by adopting
good working practices on board.
