    STS Clean seas is North of England’sloss prevention


    initiativeto promote good practice and
    compliancewith environmentallegislation.
    Cleanseas require vessels conductingship to
    ship operationsto have an STS operationsplan
    in place that is in approved by their Flag State
    administration.
    Cleanseas demand that there is a person in
    overall advisory control of the STS operation
    that is properly qualified to perform all
    relevant duties.
    Cleanseas are dependenton properly trained
    personnelon deck who have been fully briefed
    prior to the operationcommencing.
    Cleanseas are dependenton deck equipment,
    includingtransfer hoses, fenders and moorings,
    being properly rigged, utilised and certified for
    their specific function.
    Cleanseas can only be achievedby adopting
    good workingpracticeson board.
