Bangabandhu’s contribution to the language movement was a noteworthy step in bringing the
Bengali identity into a prominent position. Being a young activist, he participated in different
protests during the initial stage of language movement in 1948 [ CITATION Dha21 \l 1033 ]. After
the partition, the central leaders of Pakistan forcefully imposed Urdu as the state language of
Pakistan while trying to suppress the Bengali language in all possible way [ CITATION Dha211 \l
1033 ]. In demand of establishing Bangla as one of the state language of Pakistan, Bangabandhu
relentlessly tried to guide the young force during the movement. Although he was sentenced to
imprisonment during the crucial phase of language movement, he managed to communicate with
the activists in jail in order to provide them adequate guidance [ CITATION Dha211 \l 1033 ].
Besides the language movement, Bangabandhu initiated various significant steps to enhance and
introduce the Bengali language on international arena.
6 points movement-
The six-point movement is widely recognized as the precise roadmap for our independence that
hit the root of Pakistani exploitative rule [ CITATION Dha212 \l 1033 ]. The movement led by
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a huge turning point in the history of Bangladeshi’s struggle
against Pakistani supremacy. Following the partition, East Pakistan was subjected to different
political and economic discrimination in every possible way. As a result at a meeting of political
parties in 1966 Sheikh Mujibur Rahman first officially announced the six-point demands on the
issues of provincial autonomy of East Bengal. Through this six-point demand, Bangabandhu
basically shed light on the economic, political, cultural and social interests of East Pakistan
which was ultimately rejected by the autocratic rulers of Pakistan [ CITATION The08 \l 1033 ]
However, Bangabandhu’s six-point formula gathered enormous support of people that eventually
led to the road of independence.
