I. Course Descriptions:
This course introduces you to the essentials of Project Monitoring & Evaluation.

II Course Objectives:

The key to measuring and reporting success is to focus on the main foundations of any project. These
Are – timescale, resource, quality and scope. Once you have understood these, and put in place
Measures to enable their management, you need to look at the fifth aspect; performance analysis.
Project performance monitoring and control are areas on which one should spend a significant
Amount of time. To monitor a project, you need to measure its success against established
performance benchmarks or parameters.
If we cannot measure…we cannot manage. As a management responsibility, monitoring & Evaluation
activity provides the basic building blocks of decision-making, for strategic planning and resource
mobilization. It is a key measurement activity in our efforts at achieving organizational effectiveness
and success.

III.Learning Outcome (LOs)


As a result of this M&E initiative, it is expected that:
 project managers will have the knowledge and tools to apply the M&E approach;
 the quality of project proposals and their implementation and reporting will
improve;
 planning standards and common terminology will be established;
 planning training will be tailored to the needs and requirements;
 the planning system will be harmonized with that of its different partners and donors;

III. Course Grading Policy:


a. It is the policy of the instructor to grade all student performance through examinations, class
participation in discussions, individual and /or team presentations, short or major papers

requiring research or analysis, and other appropriate means. Individual discussions of the
reading material may be held at the discretion of the instructor.
b. Unless otherwise indicated, each student is evaluated on the basis of his or her work-product
(presentation). Please note that the instructor requires that all papers, whether short or long,
must be fully explained. Thus any original work must be clearly distinguished from the work of
others and properly cited. More guidance will be provided in this matter, as necessary.

IV. The Teaching/Learning Environment & Course Classroom Protocol:


a. The instructor manages his/her classroom as if it is an executive training meeting or session in a
business or government setting.
b. The teaching/learning environment created in the classroom is led by the instructor but it is also
understood that the most beneficial learning environment is one where students teach each
other through optimum preparation, active classroom participation, and sharing of their own
personal insights gained from lifelong experiences.

V. Statement on Faculty and Student Code of Ethics


The Code of Ethics sets the parameters for proper conduct in the classroom by both faculty and
students. This is basic but it underscores the main principle here that we will follow as a team: The
faculty member will do his/her best to provide the best teaching and learning environment for each
student as an individual and for the class as a whole. Students will be fairly evaluated in all their work
and the contributions they make to enhance the objectives of the course. Students, on the other
hand, will be responsible for their own work-product, will provide proper documentation when they
use the work of others as references, and will respect the rights of others to contribute to the
teaching/learning environment as best suits their comfort level, the capabilities, and their
motivations.

In addition to lectur ettes, the instructor will also use following training methods during 16 weeks
semester, 32 sessions:

 1 class activity
 7 exercises
 3 videos
 3 group discussions

All relevant inquiries will be encouraged and it is highly advisable to ask them during lecture or
consultation time. However, if any query is missed during those times, please ask via email and/or SMS.
Consultation hours are as follows:
Monday to Thursday 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM

X. Final Project:
 Make a group of 2-3 members.
 Choose a manufacturing firm or company and explain the Marketing management process of your
selected organization.
 Get approval from the course instructor before working on project.
 Make a video of the whole manufacturing process of the firm.
 Project report must contain following sections: (maximum 15 pages)

1. Title Page
2. Table of Contents
3. Executive Summary (1 Page)
4. Introduction of the company (1 page)
5. Mission, Vision and Objectives (1 Page)
6. References

XI. Plagiarism Policy:


Academic offenses like cheating, plagiarism (in any form, type or kind) weaken the distinctive ethical
character of the university and for the very reason, LBS takes them very seriously and holds
punishable under the university disciplinary system. All such cases are referred to Exam Cell for
initial investigation. Exam Cell, if deems appropriate, forwards the case LBS Disciplinary Action
Committee for inquiry as per university policy.

In case a student is found involved in cheating/plagiarism (of any form, type or kind), the offender
may be:

 Expelled/Rusticated from the Business School and/or from joining any institution of Higher
Education in Pakistan.
 Relegated to a lower class.
 Given a failure grade in the subject.
 Fined an amount as deemed appropriate.
 Carry out social responsibility activity.
 Any other penalty as recommended by Disciplinary Action Committee.
