Movie review- Wonder

A wonder could mean a lot of things for us, but for the Pullman family is their son, Auggie.
The movie’s story is centered around August or Auggie, like he’s called by his family.
August is not like other boys for his age because he has never studied at a state school and he
has never had a friend before.
The biggest challenge for a fifth grade boy will be to face a new class full of children and the
fact he’s not like the others it become a lot more difficult because Auggie has a face
deformity after 27 surgeries.
For me, this movie has reflected the fact that even children can judge because that’s how we
are built. Also, the movie shows the effects of bullying that makes our hero to lose all the
faith in this new journey. I don’t know about some children, but I found myself a little bit in
Auggie’s situation because I was never a skinny girl. My shyness and the mean kids made me
have a low self confidence during my teenage years.
I must to admit, I have felt some small tears on my cheeks while I was watching the movie
because the moments of frustration and unhappiness of Auggie where truly heartwarming.
Children should never feel like this.
The multiple perspectives of the movie show us how other characters feel about Auggie . His
sister said about him that he’s the Sun and the family is the Earth that rotates around him.
Despite of her thought, she loves her brother so much that Via let their parents to focus on
him instead of her problems. His new friend Jack Will find out that he would choose August
to be his best friend even his behavior wasn’t the best.
A scene that caught my attention was when a boy told to others that he would kill himself if
he had looked like Auggie. I will not tell his name, but I’m sure you guess who could be. We
can observe, with our hearts crossed how mean could children be. I ask myself many times
‘’why’’? Maybe because their parents doesn’t explain to them how important is empathy and
judging without knowing is not allowed.
In the end, I want to resume my short review with this quote that should be an everyday
reminder for all of us: ‘’Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be
kind. Always. ‘’
