Chrissa Joyce B. Ragamat BSED ENG 3A

My favorite movie is titled “100 na tula para kay Stella”. The story revolves around
how two people met and fell in love with each other at the wrong time. In the introductory part
of the movie, I assumed that the plot could be the same as other romance movies. I got bored
in the few minutes of the movie, but I realized it was not a typical college love story. I laughed
so hard when a man and woman bumped into each other, but the man's pants got ripped
during an acquaintance party at their school. The woman's name was Stella while the man's
name was Fidel. I am amazed that the look and personality of the woman are different
compared to others. Stella was a vocalist in a band and a nursing student at the same time. She
often wears black lipstick, has a lot of tattoos, and loves to drink alcohol. The woman portrayed
a dominant side of being boyish rather than being girly. I am glad that the director of the movie
breaks stereotyping when it comes to showing the life of one's character. Honestly speaking, I
loved and hated her for who she was. She is the type of woman who has a strong personality
but has a soft side on the things that she loves. I also remember that she helped Fidel boost his
confidence as an individual, which is why they became close friends. Somehow, I can relate to
her because we are the same and that is to be authentic and goal-oriented. In the middle and
almost ending part of the movie, I got disappointed with her. She used another guy just to help
her on how she could be successful in her career. Love must always be pure, genuine and
sincere. No matter what happens, no person doesn’t deserve to be treated that way. When she
also used drugs just to escape from the anxiety, pressure, and other problems that she has, it
makes me sad that she has done it for herself. I believe that unhealthy habits/hobbies will
destroy us and our lives.
On the other hand, Fidel is very opposite to the character of Stella. He loves to sing
and compose poems. Fidel has a speaking deficiency, which is why he cannot speak properly.
The doctor had given him the advice to follow the 3-word rule to not stutter. In that part, it also
shows awareness to understand the people who have the same condition as him in real life.
People who bully should not be tolerated in any situation. I'm happy his teacher is supportive of
him. For me, Fidel is my dream guy because he is the type of man who can write tons of poems
just to express his love for you. The love language that he has is a kind of traditional way which
made me feel romantic excitement. It is romantic and does not sound corny at all. I admired
him when he genuinely believed in himself, especially in his talent when it comes to singing. I
salute him because as time goes by, he is confident enough to perform in front of other people
despite the doubts that people throw at him. I affirm that our talents make us unique as who
we are. I got sad when he did not have the right time to truly admit his feelings for Stella.
The plot of the story is a mix of emotions. In life, we must not take advantage of the
time that we have for the people that we love. We must take a risk and never be afraid of
rejection. It goes around in other aspects of life because rejection can lead us to redirection.
Friends should always be our support system. Never give up on the dreams that you want for
yourself but do not be selfish because in the end it may lead you to unhappiness. Overall, the
movie is about love, friendship, accepting oneself and dreams. The ending of the story broke
me into pieces because I assumed that they met again to be together, but it is only for closure
of what happened between the two of them. Surprisingly, they loved each other but they do
not have the chance to be together anymore in the present and future because Stella is already
married to another man. I'll rate the movie a five-star because the ending is relatable and
emotional. The movie made me realize that love is unconditional, and it can lead you to the
best or worst version of yourself.
