Is the Bootcamp right for me?

Our Web Development Immersive Bootcamp
brings together a diverse group of people from
around the world, all looking to make a career
change. If anything below sounds familiar, this
program might be right for you.

You’re worried your current job is a ‘dead-end’

Many of our most successful Bootcamp students start out as underemployed
university graduates with one thing in common - their current job isn’t going
anywhere. If this is something you have in common too, launching a career in tech
is the perfect way to make a change. Whether you’re looking to find an industry
with more job security, a position with larger growth potential, or simply a way to
4 - Live Online Web Development Immersive Bootcamp at Juno

make a higher salary, tech is it. With startups popping up all over the world and
tech-related employment booming, there has never been a better time to dive into
the tech industry. And with an median base salary of $55,000 in their first job after
graduation, our grads would agree!

I was at a crossroads in my life when I heard about Juno. Fresh after writing
the LSAT, I was struggling trying to figure out if that was the right path for
me. After a few months of contemplation, I realized that if I was ever going
to make a leap of faith into a different field, it had to be then. Fast-forward
one year from when I made this decision – I met an incredibly talented and
supportive community, I’ve made lifelong friendships, and I am genuinely
happy on Sunday nights. I look forward to the work I do. I can’t really put into
words how strongly I’d recommend Juno, as it was easily one of the best
decisions I’ve made.

You’re bored or tired of your current job

Our Bootcamp grads come from a variety of different roles and industries around
the world - and some of them are very promising ones! But, these grads are all
looking for something more. Whether it’s a career that is more creative, more
dynamic, or just more fun, many grads are following their passions when they dive
into tech. If you’re looking for a career that will keep you waking up, excited to get
to work every day, web development could be it! Before diving into Bootcamp, our
Web Development course is a great way to get a sense of whether coding is for you
and build the front-end skills you need to be ready for Bootcamp.

You’re ready to find ‘your people’

One of the best parts of learning with Juno are the people. The diversity of our
community - including our students, staff, and alumni - is a point of major pride for
us. On the first day of every Bootcamp we say hello to 40 strangers, and by the end
of week nine they aren’t just a cohort, but a family. These students work, struggle,
celebrate, and succeed together over the course of their program and afterwards.
If you’re looking to become part of a global community of developers who are all as
passionate and dedicated as you are, Juno is the place for you. We hear it over and
5 - Live Online Web Development Immersive Bootcamp at Juno

over, “I’ve finally found my people.” Are we who you’ve been looking for?

New to Coding?
Knowledge of HTML & CSS best practices is required in order to be accepted
into Bootcamp. If you’re brand new to code or feel your skills need brushing
up, our Web Development course is a great way to get started. In fact, most of
our Bootcamp graduates start out as beginners and take this course to learn
the fundamentals before applying to Bootcamp.

What is the Bootcamp

experience like?
It’s not just the skills you’ll master that makes Juno’s
Bootcamp special - it’s the experience. From the
moment you sign on, to the moment you land your
first development job and beyond, you’ll have an
experience you’ll never forget. Below are a few things
we know you’ll love about Bootcamp.

Real-Time Interactive Learning

Our Bootcamp takes learning online with Zoom, a widely used video conferencing
10 - Live Online Web Development Immersive Bootcamp at Juno

platform. With features like polling, real-time chat, screensharing, breakout rooms,
and more, our online classrooms are connected, interactive, and lots of fun for
everyone involved.

Project Work Time and HelpCue

Throughout Bootcamp, students are given class time to work on their projects.
During this time, our world-class instructors are available online and work one-on-
one with students, answering their questions and helping them work through tough
coding problems. Our 10-to-1 student to instructor ratio ensures that every single
student gets the help they need.

Show and Tell

On Fridays we end the day early for a Juno tradition - Show and Tell. You’ll gather
together in a virtual classroom to watch short presentations from your classmates.
Over the course of the Bootcamp, each student will have the opportunity to do
a presentation on a topic of their choosing. This is a great time for everyone to
unwind, have some fun, and get to know each other!

Prior to entering Juno, I was attending a college for computer

programming. I have to say that Juno was a major upgrade. The instructors
here have current experience in the field, and they are always pushing
themselves to learn what is trending in the industry so they can pass that
information on to their students. They are knowledgeable and invested in
the success of their students.
- MELODY YUN CHEN, ONBRAND DEVELOPER @ UBERFLIP

After Hours
Bootcamp runs for eight hours per day, Monday to Friday for nine weeks. Though
these are the core hours, many of our students choose to work together and
11 - Live Online Web Development Immersive Bootcamp at Juno

connect before class, in the evenings, and even on weekends. Through virtual tools
like Zoom and Slack, students will stay connected and have the ability to collaborate
and problem solve together 24/7. We consider all of our students family, and most of
them consider their virtual classrooms to be a second home during Bootcamp.

How long will it take?

Our Bootcamp is a full-time program that runs for nine weeks. There are
extracurricular activities after hours, but all the mandatory content takes place
during core hours. While there is in-class project work time, students will need
at least 20-40 additional hours per week to complete coursework. We strongly
recommend that Bootcamp students don’t take on any other major time
commitments while completing the Bootcamp so that they can focus on the
program and make the most of their experience.

When it comes to timing, the details you need to know are that Juno’s Bootcamp
has core hours Monday - Friday, for 9 weeks, either from 10:00am - 6:00pm EST or
9:00am - 5:00pm EST depending on your program session.

After graduation you will begin your job search with the support of the Juno Team.
The job search should be treated as a job in itself! Our team and graduates have
found that getting into a full-time routine of filling out consistent, high quality job
applications leads to the most success. We’ll share our proven job seeker process,

Not quite yet. Applicants to our Web Development Immersive Bootcamp will be
required to successfully complete a technical assessment using HTML, CSS, and
responsive development, so you’ll need some coding experience to be eligible for

the program.

While our Continuing Education courses are not a mandatory prerequisite, students
who complete our Web Development course before applying to Bootcamp will
learn the coding skills they need to complete the technical assessment and be set
up for success in Bootcamp. Successful Bootcamp applicants who have taken our
Web Development course will also receive a $1,000 Alumni Scholarship off of their
Bootcamp tuition.

As of January 2021, our JavaScript course is also included in our Bootcamp’s tuition.
Many of our students have shared that taking the course before Bootcamp provides
the best learning experience and today, the majority of our Bootcamp students
choose to enroll in the course before Bootcamp starts. Our full-time Accelerated
JavaScript course in particular is a great way to get a feel for the immersive

start learning how to code review, and practice giving and receiving peer feedback,
both important industry practices for web developers.

WEEK 3

Intro to Programming with JavaScript

This week, we’ll dive into JavaScript. JavaScript is the programming language at
the core of our Bootcamp, and will give you the power to add more functionality
and interactivity to your code. We’ll start by introducing you to programming
fundamentals such as objects, functions, and arrays. We’ll also use Git and GitHub to
learn version control, to contribute to a code base, and to prepare your projects to
be live online.

WEEK 4

JavaScript & APIs

This week, we’ll dive deeper into JavaScript. You’ll work collaboratively with other
students and begin working with APIs to access data for use in your applications.

We’ll explore API documentation, practice working with API data, and use the
lessons learned so far to create a web application that demonstrates working with
data, DOM manipulation, error handling, and UI design.

WEEK 5

Advanced JavaScript
In our second full week tackling JavaScript, you’ll learn about Ajax and JSON,
and continue working with APIs. We’ll cover how to use asynchronous events in

(BaaS) system that allows us to create rich web applications with persistent data (for
example, using Firebase allows us to build apps that can support user sign in).

WEEK 7

React Continued
Building on last week’s learning, you’ll continue working on your introductory
React projects and begin to explore more features available in React. You will be
introduced to an agency style project where you will create a multi-page web
application with a team of your peers. This will give you the opportunity to learn from
each other, deploy production ready applications, and solidify your understanding
of React concepts taught.
