Ronaldo was marginally offside for the 3rd goal. This cannot be spotted by the
side line ref. It is difficult.

When Marcello dribbled through the defenders, Ronaldo was aware of possible hat
trick but he was already in an off-side position. So he had to wait and he adjusted
his run with Marcello’s.

Now he is marginally off. But not visible in real time. Marcello make a good pass
and Ronaldo scores a hat trick.

Offside is checked only when the pass is made. So at the time when Marcello
looked for CR7, he was almost level with him.

This is purely my personal view. Others can vary.

and closer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-to-last
opponent.

On the moment that Marcelo passed the ball to Ronaldo, his body was closer to the
goal line than the ball was.

Considering that the second-to-last defender was more than one meter behind
him, he was clearly offside.

It was off because he was ahead of the defenders. He has terrible positioning. Last
year two of his goals in ONE game were offside. This year he had a goal but it was
clearly offside as well. Sorry real fans. But he was entirely useless that game. The
era of BBC is over. The most over rated attackers in the world.
