Write about the following topic: Some film companies spend millions of dollars on the production of a
single movie.

Is it necessary to spend a lot of money to make a good movie?

What factors contribute to the success of a movie? Give reasons for your answer and include any
relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.

Many Production houses spend a lot of money to produce a film. Although movie making is an expensive
task, expending too much on a single movie can not gurantee its success. There are many important
aspects of movie which can increase the chance of its success, such as editing, acting photography and
cinematography.

Recent years have seen the surge of extravagant expenditure on production of feature films. However,
the companies which have only focused on budget have not found great success. Recently produced
Bollywood movie “Brothers” included highest paid actors, stunning location and extraordinary built sets.
The movie was not able to achieve the desired results, failing miserably at Box office. In order to achieve
critical and commercial success many other important factors of the movie should be taken into
consideration.

The most critical and essential requirement in the production of movie is its technical aspects. This
includes editing, direction and principal photography. These technical elements of the movie doesn’t
require much budget. Therefore, if production houses put their effort on the above factors, a successful
movie can be produced. The Artist, a low budget movie, was produced in early 2010s, not only got a
critical acclaim but also got an oscar for best feature film. The movie focused on direction, acting and an
excellant screenplay.

In conclusion, production housed and media companies are inclined more towards the expending rather
than consider many basic technical features of the movie. Many examples in the past has shown that
large scale budget is not the favoured formula of successful movie. Small attention to detail aspects of
movie can result in a better produced film
