3.1 Overview
This chapter describes how to unpack and inspect the ZXSDR BS8900B cabinet and
hardware components.
Steps
1. Verify that the number of items delivered is correct, all packages are intact, and the
delivery address is the same as the installation site.
2. Open the package with the serial number one, take out the packing list and the
Unpacking and Inspection Report. Then verify that the contents in this package
match the packing list. Keep the packing list for reference. Repeat this step for each
package belonging to the delivery.
3. If any items are found missing, damaged, unordered, or delivered in error, inform the
project supervisor to fill in the Unpacking and Inspection Feedback Form, and contact
ZTE for handling these items.
– End of Steps –

Steps
1. Remove the metal packing sheet, and then remove the top cover in the direction
indicated by the arrow on the crate.
2. Erect the crate on its base.
3. Pull out the cabinet from the crate.
4. Remove the plastic packing bag of the cabinet.
– End of Steps –
Example
Figure 3-1 shows the disassembly of the crate.
Context
The auxiliary electronic equipment, terminal equipment, and auxiliary materials are
generally packed in cartons. The auxiliary electronic equipment are wrapped with
3-2
antistatic bags for protection during transportation. To avoid damage to the electronic
equipment, you need to wear an ESD wrist strap before unpacking them.
Diagonal cutting pliers and a paper knife are required.
Steps
1. Verify that the board type and quantity on the carton label are the same as those on
the packing list. Sign the acknowledging receipt of items.
2. Open the carton, and remove the foam pads.
Caution!
l Avoid breaking the antistatic bags during unpacking, which can be recycled for
storing spare parts and packing return-for-repair parts.
l Dispose of the desiccant in the cartons properly.
3. Verify that the number of boards is the same as that listed on the carton label. Then
take out the boards with their antistatic bags.
4. Open the antistatic bag, and take out the board, see Figure 3-2.
– End of Steps –
3-3
Caution!

5.1 Overview
Most hardware components of the ZXSDR BS8900B have been installed before delivery.
This chapter only describes the installation of hardware components that need to be
installed on site. They are as follows:
l RF System Unit (RSU)
l Battery
Note:
The ZXSDR BS8900B may be delivered with all these hardware components installed.
You can install the component(s) that have not been installed by referring to this chapter.
5-1
Caution!
Before installing a hardware component, wear an Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) wrist
strap, and connect it to the ESD jack on the cabinet, see .
Context
RSUs are installed in the RC8910B cabinet. Up to seven RSUs can be installed in the
RC8910B-7 cabinet, and up to nine RSUs can be installed in the RC8910B-9 cabinet.
The ZXSDR BS8900B provides a series of RSUs, including RSU40, RSU60E, and RSU82.
More models are available depending on customer demands. The methods for installing
different RSUs are similar.
The slots where the RSUs are to be installed must be determined according to the site plan.
You can consult the project supervisor if there is any question regarding RSU installation.
Steps
1. After wearing a grounded ESD wrist strap, hold the handle of the RSU with one hand,
and hold the bottom of the RSU with the other hand. Then align the RSU with the slot,
and push the RSU slowly into the slot.
5-2
Caution!
Because the RSU is about 15 kg, hold the bottom of the RSU during installation to
prevent it from dropping down, which may result in personnel injury and component
damage.
Caution!
Hold the RSU with its power interface pointing downwards and the ANT interface
pointing upwards.
2. Fasten the five screws on the panel of the RSU, see Figure 5-1.
3. Connect the RSU to the ground, and then install the power cable and the monitoring
cable in sequence, see Figure 5-2.
a. To ground the RSU, connect the middle screw on the lower part of the RSU panel
with the protective grounding plate, and then fasten the two screws.
b. To install the power cable, plug the power cable connector into the POWER socket
on the RSU, and then fasten the screws of the connector.
5-3
c. To connect the monitoring cable, plug the monitoring cable connector into the MON
socket of the RSU, and then fasten the screws of the connector.

The four cabinets of the ZXSDR BS8900B can be installed with batteries. For the number
of batteries that can be installed in the cabinets, refer to Table 5-1.
Cabinet Battery
5-4
Note:
If only one battery group is needed, it is recommended to install the battery group at the
lower layer of the cabinet. The unused cable connectors of the batteries should be wrapped
and insulated.
Note:
For the installation and cascade of batteries, you can refer to the installation instructions
provided by the battery vendor.

6.1 Overview
This chapter describes how to install external cables and internal cables for the ZXSDR
BS8900B.
Cable installation includes the following:
l External cable installation
For details, refer to 6.1.1 External Cables.
l Internal cable installation
For details, refer to 6.1.2 Internal Cables.
Note:
The BS8900B cabinet has reserved space for other devices, so this manual does not cover
all scenarios of cable installation. You need to carry out the cable installation in accordance
with the site plan and consult the project supervisor immediately if there is any question
regarding the cable installation.
Caution!
The installation of power cables must be carried out by qualified personnel.

Note:
l Cables must be routed through appropriate apertures on the waterproof modules. If
a cable is routed through an aperture with larger diameter, waterproof tapes must
be used to wrap the cable so that the diameter of the wrapped cable matches the
aperture.
l If all the waterproof modules fail to satisfy the cabling requirements, glue seals should
be used instead to seal the cable holes.

corresponding waterproof rubber plugs. Insert the sliding plugs after all the necessary
RF jumpers are routed through the waterproof module with all the waterproof rubber
plugs in position.
3. Insert the sliding plugs, and then use an Allen wrench to fasten the screws on the
sliding plug.
6-13
Note:
All the waterproof rubber plugs should be pressed tightly, and all the unused apertures
should be sealed with plugs.
4. Adjust the plate, which is used to cover the cable hole on the side of the cabinet base,
to a proper place so that the cable hole is small enough, and then fasten the screw to
fix the plate.
