Vowels and Consonants are different things in English. One of them we can see in the sense that is
“A vowels is sound product with comperative open conviguration of the vocal treck. In everyday
language, a vowels is a letter sound of English alphabets that is not a consonant. So vowels an
consonant are different.”

In addition, Vowels has 5 letters, namely a I u e o. The vowels also have long and short vowels. As a
short term, long vowels are vowels that have a long sound, while short vowels are vowels that have
a short vowels sound. This we can distinguish in their pronunciation.

The mention of each vowels is not arbitrary, there are several positions where our mouth, lips, and
tongue must be precise when chanting it.Because your mouth position of your tangue and shape of
your lips will have you to pronouns something. For example:

 The mouth is almost close

 The mouth is open a little bit more
 The mouth is wait open

While in the dipthongs there are several letters that have long sounds, namely:
1) /eɪ/: It as A long a sound. Example: Day
2) aɪ/: This type of dipthongs is pronounced as a long I sound sliding into a long E sound.
Example: Try,cry,pie,eye,sky,fry,etc.
3) This one is pronounce as a long a sound in this case, the sound quickly slide into a long E
sound. Example: Soil,boil,enjoy,etc.
4) It is pronounce as a long E sound sliding into an ur sound. Example: Hear, clear, stear.etc.
5) This dipthong is pronounced as a long a sound sliding into a U sound. Example:
Pair,where,hair,etc.

And there are several letters that use short sounds, namely:
1) aƱ/: is pronounced as a short a sound sliding into an “oo” sound. Some examples of this
type of dipthongs are the following : Brown, caw, how, frown, etc.
2) oƱ/:This dipthong is frequently used and only pronounced as a single long O sound. It is
important to remember that this type has a long O sound sliding into an “oo” sound.
Example: yellow, coat,float,etc.

So Vowels are not only one sound but also two sounds which are known as dipthong. There
are thirteen vowels. Those vowels are /i/:, /ɪ/, /e/, /ɛ/, /œ/, /D/, /U:/, /Ʊ/, /Ʌ/ , /o:/, /ɔ/, /ə/,
and /ɜ:/. According to roach (2009), there are eight diphthongs in English. They are /ɪə/,
/eə/, /Ʊə/, /eɪ/, /ꭤɪ/, /ɔɪ/ , /əƱ/ , and /ꭤƱ/. Dale and poms say that “Dipthongs as a
combination of two vowels sounds. It begins as one vowel and ends as another.
