I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, learners are able to:
1. identify the table appointments used in table setting
2. follow the principles in setting a table; and
3. set a table

1. The cover which includes all
the table appointments must
be placed one-inch away
from the side table.
2. The dinner plate should be
placed first at the center of
the cover.
3. The soup bowl or plate
maybe placed on the dinner
plate.

blade facing the plate.
5. The tumbler or drinking
glass is placed just above the
point of the knife.
6. The white wine glass and red
wine glass if used are placed
to the right of the tumbler in

placed in the right side of the
soup spoon with the cup
handle turned right.

1. A dinner fork is placed to the
left side of the cover an inch
away from the plate.

IV. Evaluation:

1. Place the dinner plate in the center of the cover or one inch from the edge of
the table.
2. Place the fork to the right of the dinner plate.
3. Place the dinner knife to the left of the dinner plate.
4. Water glass/goblet should be placed above the dinner knife.
5. Every table appointment in the table setting should be at least 2 inches from
each other.
6. The dinner knife should be placed at the right side of the dinner plate with the
blade facing the plate.
7. The coffee cup should be placed next to the dinner fork.
8. The handle of the coffee cup should be at 3’oclock position to the right.
9. To avoid over crowding, allow 24”-30” for each cover.
10. Put the dinner spoon to the right of the knife with the bowl facing up.
