Conflict and Conflict Resolution through Communication

Type of Conflict:
The type of conflict we chose is Limited Resources.

Type of Conflict Resolution:


The type of conflict resolution is Collaboration.

Situation:
The situation is that the marketing department need funds, but the finance department do
not have enough resources to provide funds.

Characters:
 Assam is the head of finance department.
 Asaad is the head of marketing department.
 Sohaib is the CEO of the organization.

Dialogues:
Asaad: As you know that we have changed our approach from traditional to aggressive and
digital marketing. So, for the implementation of our strategy we need more funds.
Assam: Are you sure we need this type of marketing in this situation where our resources have
been very limited. You know the market and inflammation. We have really very low budget this
year and I am afraid I cannot provide you with more budget other than already assigned to you.
Asaad: That is what I am also concerned about, the low budget, you know well the low budget
situation is due to the low sales in previous months. I am unable to reach my target sales and I
need to reconsider my marketing strategy. Actually, at this time we need to ensure our presence
in digital market. We are going to put ads on TV and social media, for that we need to hire more
people.
Assam: Mr. Asaad, you are not getting my point. I am repeatedly telling you that we cannot
provide you any extra funds at least this year and you are talking about hiring more people and
going for digital presence. Do you know what that means? We will have to stop our production
department and give you the funds instead, so you can do your marketing thing.
Asaad: Sir I completely understand your point, but you also please try to understand that digital
market presence in this particular time is very important for us, as our competitors are not going
to hold their marketing because we don’t have the budgets yet. They are going to flood he market
with their promotions and then we will be in more worse position.
Assam: Mr. Asaad let me bottom line it to you here. We are not going to authorize any extra
budgets to you this year. So, my advice to you is that you have to be more creative and find a
way to influence the market, remaining in your current budget.
Sohaib: Mr. Asaad, Mr. Assam please settle down. As I have been listening to your arguments.
Let me propose an idea to you. As it is obvious that we need right decisions and strategy for
marketing at the right time to remain in the market, but I am also aware about the financial
position of our organization. So, I have decided to take a loan which will be provided to the
marketing department.
Assam: This means finance department will not be burdened.
Sohaib: Yes exactly, we will take care of the marketing by taking loan.
Asaad: Sir I really appreciate that you understood the situation.
Sohaib: I have taken this decision, so that our finance department will not be affected.
Meanwhile, our marketing needs will be fulfilled. I hope Mr. Assam and Mr. Asaad you both are
happy with this decision.
Asaad: Yes sir. Thank you.
Assam: Exactly sir. Thank you.
