EMBROIDERY:
The eyes and the cheeks are embroidered with embroidery floss. I use back stitch, satin stitch and
straight stitch.
In case you´re not familiar with one of the stitches, you can practice the stitches a few times on scraps
before working on a toy. None of the stitches are difficult, but can take some practice to get perfect.
Always keep your stitches and the space between them the same length. Be consistent with your sewing
tension.
Back Stitch: This simple stitch creates a solid line so it´s great for outlining shapes or creating text. A
backstitch gets its name because you create it moving the needle a stitch backward before moving it
forward to create the next stitch.
Satin Stitch: The satin stitch is composed of parallel rows of straight stitches and is often used to fill in
an area with floss. They make very nice eyes and noses on softies.
NOTES:
- Do not join rounds; work in a continuous spiral unless otherwise stated.
- Fasten off your work always with needle join and you will get a neat result.
- Crochet as tight as you can comfortably make it. If you see holes in your work, either try working with
a tighter tension or go down a hook size so that your stitches are nice and tight.
- Stuff your amigurumi as you go.
- Mostly, I embroider cheeks and eyes using embroidery floss.
- Lion’s nose is knitted (stocking / stockinette stitch).
- Use a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the beginning of a round.
- Toys measures ~ 8,66 inches /22 cm using the materials described.
Loop stitch
I love the loop stitch. It’s a fabulous textured stitch that you can use to add loops to any crochet work. It
is a stitch I’ve used to make a fabulous ‘mane’ texture.
Unfortunately, I think many people are scared by the loop stitch, thinking it’s too complicated or tricky.
But I’m here to help… because I want everyone to feel confident with the loop stitch!
*If you are crocheting the loop stitch for the first time – you just need some practice, before you start crocheting
this toy! Crochet as tight as you can comfortably make it. If you see holes in your work, either try working with a
tighter tension or go down a hook size so that your stitches are nice and tight

bunch of bumpy ridges.
T-SHIRT
Yarn Gazzal Baby cotton (light green), 1.6 mm hook
*Crochet in joined rounds. Join yarn with a slst into the 1st loop of the round. Chains at the beginning and slst at
the end of the round do not count as a stitch.
ASSEMBLY:
1. Place the nose onto the head as shown and sew it with sewing floss along the edge stitch. I use
Backstitch in this case. Make one short straight stitch with the black yarn tail and fasten off.
3. Embroider the eyes with black embroidery floss using Satin stitch. Embroider the cheeks under the
eyes with pink floss using Satin stitch.
4. Sew the arms at the side of the body at the rnd 36-37. Place the T-shirt over the body before attaching
the head. Sew the head onto the body.
