Business District and Southbank. (3) Southbank is famous for being one of the major cultural hubs of
Melbourne. (4) The Yarra River offers a multitude of picturesque settings. (5) Nature, in all its
abundance, abounds by the riverside. (6) Those going for an early morning stroll might hear birds singing
in the trees. (7) One might also laze on the river bank and dip his or her feet into the cool, clear water,
during a warm afternoon. (8) In the evenings, one can also take a seat on a park-bench or by the water,
and watch the sun dip below the horizon. (9) The banks of the river have a number of barbecue and picnic
facilities, fishing platforms and jettys. (10) In addition, there are trails and paths for cyclists, walkers and
joggers. (11) Another great way to pass the time is kite-flying. (12) A Melbourne icon, the river is the
focus for numerous spectacular events including the famous Moomba festival, rowing regattas, the
Melbourne Festival and Dragon Boat Festivals.
