QUESTIONS
Attempt all questions.
Question No.1 (2.5)
Explain that why we can’t use Superposition for calculating the power effects.
Power calculation cannot be done by superposition principle because power is not linear function
of voltage or current. Superposition is not applicable if any redundant source will present in the
circuit. Superposition is not applicable if any non-linear component is present in circuit.
Superposition theorem applies only for voltages and currents, not powers. Superposition
can be used to find the total current when it is in the time domain. Using that current, you
can then find voltage across or power absorbed by a resistor
Question No.2 (2.5)
Explain what do you mean by equivalence of two circuits? Are these two circuits equivalent
internally?
An equivalent circuit refers to a theoretical circuit that retains all of the electrical characteristics of
a given circuit. However, more complex equivalent circuits are used that approximate the nonlinear
behavior of the original circuit as well.
Two circuits are equivalent if you provide a certain voltage to the terminals the current through the
terminals will be the same and and vice versa; i.e. if you let flow a certain current through the
terminals, the voltage across the terminals will be the same for both circuits. AC Equivalent
Circuit of Semiconductor Diode: Junction Capacitance:The depletion region of a pn-junction is
a layer depleted of charge carriers situated between two blocks of low resistance material
Question No.3 (10)
Using the Thevenin’s Theorem, find the equivalent circuit to the left of terminals in the
circuit. Then find I.
The value of source voltage should be your roll number.
Draw the above circuit in proteus and calculate all the necessary requirements.
