SOLUTIONARY PROPOSAL
 Summary
I do think that that Hawaii’s hunger problem is out of
control and I think I have a great solution to help with this
pandemic. What I will do is in a way where it will be safe
and really cut down on the skin to skin contact due to the
pandemic we are in right now. Which will be done by me
and the period of time will be around a month to a month
and a half. This outcome will benefit the homeless and
the people who overall just need food to eat that don’t
have enough. Believe it or not a whopping 159,040
people are struggling with this problem and 55,710 of
that 159,040 are children. To ratio that 1 in 5 children on
this very island struggle with hunger.That is why now
more than ever I feel like I could make a difference.
 Statement of Need
The issue that I will be tackling for my solutionary project is Hawaii’s
Hunger Problem. The reason why it matters is honestly if you were
put in the same shoes as these individuals then how would you feel.
The reason why this is necessary is especially during this pandemic
now more than ever we need to help feed other people who are less
fortunate than us. The people who benefit from this is the less
fortunate and people like us because the reason I say both parties is
because the person donating is giving to their community and giving
the other party food to eat which they wouldn’t have had before
because isn’t that what Hawaii is one big Ohana and I feel like what I
am going to do is going to reflect that saying. I feel like the issue
hasn’t been tackled well is because our past politicians quite frankly I
felt that they care, and also other people outside have honestly in my
opinion have tried their best to try and feed as many mouths as
possible. That is why now more than ever this solution is needed to
be sure to make an impact in today’s world and community.
Project Activity
The reason why I chose this issue is simply when I
drive to my volleyball practice or simply just driving
around Hawaii I see a bunch of homeless people
digging for garbage to eat. I feel quite frankly bad that
this is how people are living to survive and I feel like
that is incredibly unjust. I feel like there are many
approaches to helping this pandemic like for example
collecting from different places and donating to the
food bank. Or actually working in the soup kitchens
and making sure that they are getting the proper
nutrition that they need. The specific outcome is that I
will overall help in the process of helping feed more
mouths and inspire more people in my community to
donate to the food banks which will then help the
process even more. I feel like I am the best one to
take this pandemic by the helm because I really want
to convey that in Hawaii we all are one big Ohana and
that we should help one another and I feel like with
my ideology that I can make a big dent in this problem
that we face.
 Evaluation
I feel like it should be pretty straight
forward measuring the quantity
and that it should be a pretty good
amount that should be donated.
But on the other hand I would
strive for quality over quantity
especially with food because I
would not want people to get food
poisoning. That is how I feel I will
tackle the problem and execute it
with the utmost perfection.
 Dissemination
A way that I will find to be super affective is to take
advantage of social media and post about where I
will be to pick up the food that will be donated to
limit the hand-to-hand contact. I feel like with
apps like Instagram it will be a lot easier and faster
to show people what is being done and what their
donations are doing and how they are helping
other people in their current lives. I honestly feel if
my business is doing well, I will reach out to more
and more business that are helping out in this
situation and give them my view of things and
overall, just collaborate ideas.
 Budget and
Funding
The project will be further sustainable because of the donations
that’s the beauty of having a solution that is based on donations of
canned goods. I will use the seed money that we are given to start
out the process with buying canned goods. And then after that I
know for sure the donations will start coming in and this business
will be super sustainable and will further push my views of hawaii
being one big ohana and that we all help each other on island
blood or not.
