Bomag

SELLING AGAINST
VM 115 D VS. BOMAG BW 211 D-4 • VM 115 D has one-piece exciter shaft vs. 2 thin axles
• VM 115 D has better weight distribution (53:47 vs. 57:43) with additional weights and connection by coupling
better on slopes (wear part)

• VM 115 D has a higher steering and oscillating angle at • VM 115 D offers superior manoeuvrability by higher

Both centre joints are maintenance free, Bomag use a • BW 211 D-4 has no grouped service point for hydraulics
single steering cylinder (2 on VM 115 D) • VM 115 D offers easier access and reduced service costs

Hamm

SELLING AGAINST
VM 115 D VS. HAMM 3412 PART I (5) Weak rubber sealing closes the radiator compartment
• VM 115 D has higher steering and oscillating angle to keep the air there and to prevent the air going back to
the engine compartment without being cooled. If rubber
• VM 115 D gives higher compaction performance (higher
sealing defect whole out of order
centrifugal force and amplitude)
(6) Hot exhaust is positioned in the middle of the radiators
• VM 115 D gives higher gradeability (60% to 56%)
adding heat
• Hamm 3412 tested suffered overheating problems due to:
• VM 115 D centre joint free of maintenance, 3412 has
(1) Air intake on top of tractor part grease nipples
(2) Air is lead by plate to the sides of the engine • VM 115 D hood lifts easily by pushing a lever to operate
compartment a gas cylinder, 3412 hood has to be opened and closed
(3) Already heated air arrives at fan manually by a pump

(4) Air is lead to the radiators on the left and right hand
side. Plastic plate prevents the air being blown through
the middle of the radiators

SELLING AGAINST
VM 115 D VS. HAMM 3412 PART II • Driving lever of VM 115 D allows very smooth and
• VM 115 D has better vandal protection: Fuel and comfortable operation. In tests smooth operation of the
hydraulic oil fillers are protected beneath engine hood Hamm machine proved very difficult (lever action required
aggressive movement). Lever has to be pushed in neutral
• 3412 has both fillers outside. Hamm’s large rear cabin
position, VM 115 D engages automatically. 3412 has 2

driving levers
• Drive and vibration motor hoses appear vulnerable
to damage
• Preloaded rubber mountings on VM 115 D protect the
drive motor. Hamm load their rubbers via axial pressure
of the drive motor, which may shorten the life of the
motor and rubbers – preload is not defined exactly
