Activities:

1. In pairs, discuss the meaning of these idioms. Be prepared to report back to the class.

2. With your partner, make your own sentences using these idioms.

3. Discuss the following questions:

a. Have you ever passed out?


b. When was the last time you took a sick day? Why?
c. When was the last time you broke out into a rash? What caused it?
d. Have you ever gone under the knife?
e. What do you do to prevent coming down with a cold?
f. Do you know a very old person who is “alive and kicking”?
g. If you go see a doctor tomorrow, do you think he/she will give you a clean bill of health?
