Task:
You will write a formal letter to Ellie Weisel. You will critically
evaluate what you know so far of the novel Night, of the
author, and of the Holocaust to answer one of the following
questions:
“Are we, as citizens of the world, responsible for another’s
well-being?”
OR
“To what extent are we all witnesses of history and
messengers to humanity?”
Elie Weisel addresses these topics in the Preface and the novel
itself. In the letter, you are to discuss what you have learned
in this unit so far and pull from personal experience to come
to an answer and justify it to Elie (examples, explanations,
details).

Requirements:
1. You need to use quotes from the novel to support your ideas.
2. Double space your writing and use your best handwriting.
3. You need to show evidence of all stages of the writing process: Brainstorm – Outline –
Rough Draft – Editing.
4. You need to use the formal letter structure provided in class:
