UOI3 What’s Old Is New Again

Myths and Legends: The Podcast

SOI: Communities use common narrative structures and archetypes to


teach the values of their cultures and to create historical bonds among
their people.

ATL: Communication (use appropriate forms of writing for different


purposes) and Critical Thinking

Your task is to create your own myth and produce a podcast that tells the story.

How To:
1. Create a hero – use your hero definitions from earlier in the unit to form the base of
your new character and remember that cultures express their values through their
heroes.
2. Determine your moral – what cultural value do you want to teach through your myth?
3. Create a hero’s journey graphic organizer for your hero – you need to use at least 8 of
the elements of the hero’s journey for this.
4. Write a script – use episodes from the podcast Myths and Legends as an exemplar for
this.
a. Make sure you explicitly state the moral and cultural value this myth is meant to
be teaching.
5. Record your podcast – be sure there is no loud background noises
