C&C08 Digital SPC Switching System Routine Maintenance
Dear Customers:
Thank you for choosing the C&C08 digital SPC switching system from Huawei.
To guarantee the normal and steady running of the system, please follow the
following suggestions and refer to the Routine Operation and Maintenance Guide
to make necessary routine maintenance:
(1) Keep the equipment room clean and tidy, and free from dusts, moisture, and
pests such as rats.
(3) Make daily routine checking and testing and keep records according related
contents of the Routine Maintenance Operation Guide.
(4) Handle any problems immediately and timely or report such problems to the
local representative offices of Huawei in case such problems can not be solved on
site.
(6) During repairs, follow related specifications and standards of Huawei closely so
as to avoid any damage or accidents caused by man-made factors.
(7) In case of such serious failures as system shutdown, eliminate the fault
according to the major fault handling procedures, and inform the local
representative office of Huawei immediately.
(8) Do not leave damaged boards inside the cabinet. Put them in antistatic bags so
that they will not cause other problems.
(9) Before operating the equipment hardware, wear antistatic wrist strips.
(11) Forbid the use of terminal software and other software to directly retrieve and
modify the database, which might result in certain problems.
(12) Personnel attendence in the remote module exchange equipment room should
be maintained in case of violent storms.

C&C08 Digital SPC Switching System Some Descriptions about Routine Maintenance Guide
Daily routine maintenance refers to those necessary maintenance items that must
be handled everyday. It can help us see the equipment running status at any time so
as to find any problems on time. Problems detected in routine maintenance must be
recorded in detail, including the specific physical location and fault description, to
facilitate timely maintenance and removal of problems.
"Attendance Logs of C&C08 Digital SPC Switching System" are filled in by the
SPC equipment room maintenance personnel. One table should be prepared for
each day, with details of equipment room environment and equipment running
status during that shift. For routine maintenance operation methods, refer to the
"Routine Maintenance Operation Guide of C&C08 Digital SPC Switching System".
User can modify the contents of the "Attendance Logs of C&C08 Digital SPC
Switching System" tables and compile them into an attendance log manual, with

(1) Data backup and call bill backup are preventive measures taken to avoid data or
call bill loss due to accidental damage to the BAM hard disks.
(2) Office data checking can be undertaken in periods set according to how
frequently the office data of various offices is modified. The recommended period
is one month.
(4) In general, format conversion system should be examined before the system is
put into service; the service time of the system depends on the practical
requirements of subscribers. If the system is not in service for a long time, please
make periodical examination to ensure the reliability. A period of one month is
recommended.

1. Purpose of maintenance
(1) To check the running of BAM, WS and their attached equipment. Remove any
hidden problems, and guarantee that the system runs in a safe environment, lower
the equipment failure rate, and prolong equipment life span.
(2) To retrieve the time of the terminal system and the main processing system. If
there is a great difference between the system time and the local time, which
exceeds one minute, then correct the system time so as to guarantee the correct
time of the call bills, alarming files, and some other reports such as testing reports
and equipment monitoring reports outputted by the system.

be connected; to unplug the mouse, we should remove mouse-detection from the
system.
(2) WS check includes corresponding UPS check, to see if magnetic biasing occurs
in the display.
(3) Before defragmenting BAM disk space and deleting files, make sure that the
call bills and important data have been backed up; this is a protective measure to
avoid loss of call bills or data caused by file misdeleting.
1. Purpose of maintenance
No.7 signaling link protection functions and the switchover of switching network
are vitally important in guaranteeing the normal running of the system in case the
active system fails. Therefore, regular tests are necessary.
2. Operation guide
(2) The interval between two switchovers should not be less than 30 minutes, and
frequent swtichover is absolutely forbidden.
(3) Every module must be tested, and if any problem occurs, repair right away
according to the "Maintenance Manual".

arranged according to the actual circumstance of the local exchange.
5.2.3 Operation Guide to the Quarterly Maintenance of the Power Supply and
Cabinets
1. Purpose of maintenance
To guarantee the reliable running of the power supply, and detect and remove any
hidden problems in operation on time, it is recommended to check the power
supply module and the batteries every quarter.

C&C08 Digital SPC Switching System Quarterly Maintenance
1. Purpose of maintenance
The reliable connection of ground wires and the reliable ground resistance are the
basis for the normal operation of the equipment. So they must be regularly
measured and checked.
2. Operation guide
Check whether the 1. Every connection point is safe and reliable, and is

connector is safely 3. The ground connector is not corroded, as
connected. appropriate corrosion resistant measures are taken.
Pay close attention to human bodies and equipment during the operations related to
the power supply.
Each module point must be measured with a record kept. Those that are not up to
the standard must be corrected immediately. The quarterly maintenance of ground
wires must be performed periodically according to the actual circumstances of the
local exchange. It is recommended to fully carry out the maintenance details of this
section in stormy seasons, and the maintenance should be conducted on every
module, including careful checking and testing.
