(Jorge) Industrial engineering is important because it
takes into consideration economic, technical and social
factors and aims to raise the efficiency and productivity of
a society, at the level of various organizations. It studies
the theoretical and methodological bases of models and
systems, organizational culture, process management and
administration, design, operation and control of industrial
systems in which people, materials, equipment,
information and capital are involved, and whose function
is the optimal production of goods and services.
Heyder: An industrial engineer brings
to society the ability to know each of the
processes and the needs of people, in
order to integrate them and make them
work as a whole. Industrial engineers
contribute to entrepreneurship and
development of new opportunities,
project management, increasing the
productivity of people, making
organizations more efficient.
(Jorge) technology has always been linked hand in hand
with industrial engineering and is an important resource
that is used to contribute to the sectors. the improvement
and optimization of processes is usually the main
contribution made from this branch of engineering that
began with the steam engine and even today continues to
evolve in the many processes that exist.
Tatiana: The impact of industrial
engineering on technology, which has
been basically to make the most of
technological advances in order to
contribute to the continuous
improvement of also leveraging their
capabilities to make companies more
efficient, generating more revenue and
reduced costs and resources.
(Esteven) Industrial engineering seeks sustainability
solutions in management and production systems. Its
breadth of knowledge, flexibility of execution and
integrative nature allow it to do so. It can focus on energy,
efficiency and climate change. If there is a field in which
industrial engineers are prepared, it is the use and
exploitation of energy. And if anyone knows the
greenhouse gas emissions of industry, it is the industrial
engineer.
Heyder: As for the contribution of
industrial engineering to the
environment, it is difficult to see an
implicit relationship, but having
knowledge of almost all the areas that
make up an organization allows to
create appropriate solutions that allow
the integration of management and
production systems to make them more
self-sustainable and environmentally
friendly, improving manufacturing
practices and integrating the
environmental protocols that each
organization needs.
